A lead producer on Anthem has confirmed that "every activity" in the game will feature matchmaking.
Ben Irving tweeted out this information while responding to a question pertaining to public and private matchmaking, saying “There is matchmaking for every activity in the game.” This presumably applies to Strongholds, free play, missions, world events and everything in between, allowing for players who aren’t readily matched up with friends to find other players to join with.
