FA Bilberry, wet sock smell?

Have you sampled it? I do get an odd fragrance from some flavorings, but FA Bilberry is really flavorful. You don't need much of it, at all.
Yes Huck, we tried it in a blueberry prominent recipe at %2 complimented by FA Forest Fruit. A friend and I both got the musky smell and an off taste. When we remove the bilberry, the off taste is gone so it is definitely the culprit.
For that flavor, I'd consider starting at 0.5%. To me, at least, it's that strong. It stands up very well for itself, LOL.
Mine was more like perfume, both in smell & taste.
Think maybe there are some QC issues with that one.
Scared to order any more now.
Just really odd, and rare, for FA flavors.

Exactly. Mine was like wet sock mixed with perfume. Best way to describe it!

I know many love bilberry, unfortunately I got a strange taste too, sweaty socks ...I tried it mixed with other blueberries, nope didn't work for me...I haven't revisited and don't plan to since other blueberry blends work well enough..seems a small amount of people get weird tastes from it but we are minority...I also get peppery tastes from some tfa flavors so I might have weird tastebuds(and I like other flavors others don't)
I am curious about this as I will want to expand my flavoring horizons in the future. What brand are those with issues using for their VG/PG Percentages used? A little more information would help in trying to get to the root of this evil smell.

Ah, for me, I tried a long time ago over a year ago when started diy....30/70 blend pg/vg...nic and bases were fine when I tested solo, flavor just didn't work for me....shrug, I'm fine with it since I do like stuff others don't...nice I can mix diy for my personal tastes and that everyone else can too....again many love this flavor, it's quite beloved, some just taste things differently...also reason why I initially buy small sizes of a new flavor even if it's popular with others....peppery notes have been noted by others on reddit with certain flavors too(ex. Tfa vbic), no biggie, other flavors I sub with......nice to find when others get weird tastes from something though too...kindred tastebuds, LOL. If something doesn't scratch the itch, I move on and try something else, more flavors to explore and try out...why not?
Do you have Vienna cream or fresh cream FA? If you do, try mixing that with billberry. Granted, I love my billberry FA strong and folks here say I am crazy crazy... So to make every one happy...

1% Vienna cream FA
0.5 to 1% fresh cream FA
0.5-1% billberry FA
And what I mean by crazy is that would do 2% billberry FA. However, me and billberry get along really well...like a brother and sister getting married lol j/k.

When I was thinking of delving into DIY I was still on that other forum and those ID-10-T's in the DIY group are just so stuck up and if you do not use the flavors they use your not good enough. In one of the last posts I bothered with over there one A-Hole from New jersey who thinks he is Mods gift to that shithole said something I pointed out as being incorrect to tell a person looking to DIY. Then I got a semi apology for what he called us getting off on the wrong foot! Then in a different post he says his flavors are all PG!
Now to the point I made not all flavors are PG based but they want to say all of theirs are PG. So I gave up because they are not smart enough to understand their is some they do not know which is what is called VGD Flavors. VG Dominant
