Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
Every week it seems like Tom Mason and the rest of the 2nd Mass run into a group who is completely and willingly oblivious of the fact that they are fighting a war against an invading alien force who they, miraculously, have a good chance of defeating if they can just get their act together. This week it’s an active U.S. military outpost that just so happens to be lead by a former colleague of Weaver’s.
At first it struck me as a little strange that this, fairly large, contingent of military personnel had been operating without making their presence known up until this point. Thankfully there is a good explanation for it as it turns out the commanding officer has had standing orders to focus efforts on Espheni collaborators instead of engaging the enemy directly. Obviously this is a point of contention for Tom who, as always, makes his feelings known and isn’t afraid to give his own orders to Captain Marshall’s soldiers.
