Note: Full spoilers follow.
“Non-Essential Personnel” had a great energy to it from beginning to end. Pope recruiting was actually kind of a surprise to see as he seems like the type of person who would want to keep a small group. His method of picking and choosing who joins his team is well within character though as he considers the injured or weak non-essential and therefore not worthy of being on Team Pope. I will admit, I’m not too happy with how we got here. The contrived decision that Tom himself in from a couple of episodes ago still stings but now that we’re here it’s good to see a completely unhinged Pope who is actually reminiscent of the man we met in the first season.
