FDA Claims There’s Market Freedom While Blocking Tobacco Harm Reduction Products

The article mis-states one important point:
Despite their many positive health impacts, FDA deemed electronic nicotine delivery systems as “tobacco products” in 2016, and since then, no new THR products have come to market. Furthermore, FDA has essentially blocked all new THR product developments.
Although no new products were supposed to have come to market, and hardly any did in the last few months of 2016, it wasn't far into 2017 before it became obvious that the new administration's FDA didn't have much enthusiasm for enforcing that section of the deeming regs. In fact, most of the vape products on the market now were not on the market before 8/8/16. So no, the FDA has not blocked new THR developments.

Of course they have blocked some, for example they're dragging their feet on IQOS. It's been well over a year now since both MRTA and a PMTA paperwork was submitted. But again, this does't block development. IQOS is fully developed is being sold in numerous other countries, just not in the USA.
