The original Fight Club was many things. It was a violent satire of modern, consumer-driven culture and suburban malaise. It was a treatise on how to save the world by burning it down. It was a star-making vehicle for writer Chuck Palahniuk and his distinctive voice. It inspired a movie that boosted Edward Norton's career and established Brad Pitt's abs as one of the great Wonders of the World. The question is whether, 19 years after the book's debut, Fight Club even needed a follow-up. Unfortunately, this first issue doesn't make a strong enough case for the affirmative.
