First Mod by Tad button heats up HELP!!!

so i got a mechanical mod from a friend (FIRST MOD by tad) and i got a Mad Hatter RDA with a 18650 3000Mah battery and when i press the button it starts to heat up like crazy and i`m scared that the battery will explode or start leaking can someone give me some heads up on how to fix the problem i`m new to the vaping and have no experience with mods and mechanical mods i just switched from EGO-t. Please Help!!

P.S. thanks in advance

The only advice I can give is take the battery out and put the mod down. Please don't pick it back up until the cavalry comes in with the appropriate info.

Any 3000 mah 18650 will have a low discharge rate... probably 10 to 15a and should not be used in a mech mod with a build below ~0.6ohms.

You should be looking at a Samsung 25r 2500mah with a higher amp rating (there are others but that is my fav).

That alone shouldn't make the button crazy hot though. Is it a magnetic button? Did a wire clipping get pulled into the button and is arcing?

Is it a new mod or a used one that needs to have the button polished up to get a good connection?

What resistance are the coils built to?

18650 3000 mah tells us exactly fuck and all, which is well past jack and shit.
What battery is it?
If it is not LG, Samsung or sony then you are fucking wrong, if your friend said it was ok to use then he is wrong and needs an ass beating.

What is your resistance on the atty?
Do you even ohm meter bra?

Here is some info on it and some tips, read about cleaning the button.
https://www.viper-vape.com/products/first-mod-by-tad.html

Nothing glaringly wrong with it but it shouldn't be used by a noob... or any mech.

Get your money back from your friend and buy an inexpensive regulated mod like the evic vtc mini and a 25r battery (or 2). Put whatever subohm tank or dripper or whatever you want on it and be a happy vaper.

+1 on the Evic VTC mini with the samsung 25R's. Thats been my setup going on 4 months now.

The Battery is 18650 LG INR HG2 3000mAh 20A its not new since i`ve polished it and it heated up again but the heat was lower. A friend of mine told me to remove the coils and see how much coils and which materials to use. Since I`ve removed 1 of the 2 coils the heating is lower but still heats up so i`m hoping after i use the proper coil build and materials i`ll see the difference.

P.S. thanks for the information about the cleaning of the mod it helped alot

Stop, just stop right the fuck now.
I know myth busters did a turd polishing video but this is not a turd this will take your fucking hand off.
Polishing a battery is wtfville.
Your friend is a motherfucking moron.
Without an ohm meter you are no dancing with Darwin you are self lubing and bending over for Darwin.

Put the mech down and go get a regulated or stop vaping, you and your "friend" are setting you up to be a news story.

It may say 20a, but its not a 20a continuous. Maybe 20a pulse... maybe.

That cell is fine for a dual battery or better triple battery regulated but should not be used in a single cell mech tube... or even single regulated really.

Taking a coil out doubled the resistance so it is less stressful on the battery but you may still be way too low for what that battery should be run at depending on what the build started at.

If you don't have an ohm reader to know what you are running or if it has a short... I would put that fucker down like big nasty said.

If you want to continue with it, go for it but I would not use that 3000 cell and an unkown coil resistance if it were me. You really would be better served getting your $50 back from your friend and buying a vtc mini / cuboid combo for $50.

Wire material doesn't determine the resistance. The coil size and number of wraps does. You REALLY should get an ohms reader if you are going to use a rebuildable.

Oh... that mod has a lock ring... that will at some point be forgotten and you will sit it down or put it in your pocket after forgetting to lock the stupid thing and it will fire untill you notice it burning your leg or if set down you may notice the vapor it is producing and if not noticed it will vent and burn your house down.

for one, I would stop listening to your friend. It looks like when you listen to him, bad thing happen and you come back here.
for two, I would not use a low build on those batteries, if the battery is heating up like that there is a good chance its gone kaput. In which case even if it was a legit cell, its not aymore. I would replace the battery, Samsung 25r or sony vtc4 from a reputable source (Liionwholesale.com) and get a good regulated mod, to use while you learn about ohm's law, battery safety and build safety should you want to continue with mechanical devices.
also I would check and see, some mechanical mods cant carry a build to low, without overheating; and, if that is a hybrid, you bring in another area of potential issues. I can't tell from the pic if that is a hybrid or not and ive never heard of the mod, to speak to its build integrity.

I`m not polishing the battery I polished the screw on the button that connects with the battery cuz it had oxidation on it and on the RDA too

What is happening is called Joule heating. Electricity takes the path of least resistance, in this case it's your switch. Without knowing in the specifics on how low your build is, it will be difficult to help with the situation. If you are going to use a mechanical mod, the only safety feature is the stuff between your ears. Ohm's law is a key learning need if you are going to use a mechanical mod. A good rule to follow is never build more than 90% of your batteries continuous output, not pulse output, but continuous output. For the 20A battery you have, that would be 18 amperes max draw.

The lowest build that is SAFE on your battery is 0.23 Ohms. I suspect your build is much lower, but still have no idea how low. If the battery is heating up with the button, just stop using it till you learn a bit more. Lithium batteries are nothing to fool with and they are not forgiving if you dead short them.

Don't fire it anymore untill you figure out what is happening.
You can get hurt.
What is your build? Did you build the coils? Do you have a simple ohmmete or access to one?
