Flavor comparison between UWell Crown and Arctic V8 Mini?

Hey guys,

Can anyone provide me with a flavor comparison between the UWell Crown and Arctic V8 Mini? Are they similar, or is it a night and day difference? Which gives the best flavor between the two?

Also a side question: Which coils in the V8 mini provide the best flavor?

Thanks!

No idea interested - I only have the crown and latest cleito (as well as other subohm)
My fav is cleito crown and herkales.
I would love to know how the new Arctic compares to the crown, because the regular Arctic is great!
I just like a LITTLE more air if possible....

Arctic V8 Mini, with Tiger Coil, is a much nicer vape than the regular Arctic. Dense clouds like any of the Herakles, no spitting or leaking yet, uses more juice than anything I've tried (including tfv4). Not sure if it has quite the Crown flavor, but it is a much more intense vape than the Crown. The V8 Mini does whistle a bit, even with airflow open, and due to size, tank gets a bit hot--- but that seems less so once coil fully broken in. Have not yet tried Hive or Snake coils.

If money wasn't a factor, I'd get a full size Arctic V8, then add the zoo coils that come with the Mini. Again, it's more like a Herakles than a Crown or og Arctic, and it isn't as airy as a tfv4. At $19.50 or so on ECig.com, including the Tiger and Hive, it is, however, a very good deal. You would need to take a bottle of e-liquid with you. A few good pulls, and 1/3 of the 3 ml tank is gone.

I haven't tried the V1, V2, ni200, or V8. Other than that, I've had all of the Arctic V8 coils and the only one that stands up to the Crown with regard to flavor is the Snake. The Tiger comes close, but they seem to burn out in record time whereas the Snakes last as long or longer than the Crown coils. The Hive puts out big clouds but not much in the way of taste. The V4 Claptons are about the same as the TFV4 version. Decent flavor and mammoth clouds, but I'm in it for the taste, not trying to impress some strangers with a smoke-machine-like output of vaporized vegetable glycerin. If I had to pick one, I'd go with the Crown. The 0.25s, the 0.5s, and the nickel coils are all spectacular when it comes to flavor production. The Arctic V8 only has the Snakes and Tigers. Don't get me wrong, they're both great coils, but the Tigers fall just short of the Crown in flavor and length of life, so it's really just the Snakes vs. three Crown coils in my book. Maybe the V8 SS singles, kanthal duals, TCs, and octos are amazing and I just don't know it, but I can't speak to coils I haven't tried. Hope this helps.

In my experience with both (admittedly less of it with the Arctic than the Crown), it really depends on the coil you're using. The Snake and possibly the Tiger are better than the Crown on a good day, while the Hive and quad Clapton are not, in my oh-so humble opinion.

How is the flavor on the octuple, dual vert, nickle, and the SS coils? I haven't tried them yet since the Snake is so good I just keep purchasing them rather than risk getting a box of lesser coils. I'm not huge on TC, but if they're worth it I'll definitely give some a try.

On a good day seems to tell the story. Any V8 coils that won't flood in my Mini after a refill? Is it the metal surrounding the coil, on the top of the inside of the casing? Due to this issue, I'd have to change my original opinion, and go with the Crown, between the two.

I wondered why they put that ring around the top of the cotton. It keeps you from properly priming the coils (along with the outer metal ring that only exposes about half of the wicking holes) and I've had some minor leaking issues, too. Given, my tank is called "mini" for a reason, but it doesn't hold much juice at all, and it seems like every time I leave it to sit overnight without a mod attached, when I come back the bottom is oily. This happens on occasion with my Crown, too, but not nearly as often.

That said, the Crown has dumped around 1/4 of the tank out the airflow holes on multiple occasions. I've tried every trick on this board and nothing seems to stop it, so I've just chalked it up to one of those things I'll have to live with. It's not that bad since it only happens about once every 10 fills or so. Still, I wish I knew how to stop it. Closed airflow holes, the upside-down trick, even using a protective silicone ring to keep the airflow holes EXTRA airtight doesn't help. It's not like it's a bad coil thing, either. It's just like the damn tank is finicky and every once in a while it takes a dump on my mod, kind of like my cat and the carpet. I never know why it happened, it just did.

Stupid cat. :poop:

Funny you should mention. I've tried tfv4 Micro/Nano and Vaporesso cCell coils with the metal around the top, and those did not wick well either. I did get the Hive to clear by cranking it to 93w. The vape is not unbearably hot, but the tank sure is. Flavor meh, clouds pretty good, denser and less airy than a tfv4. But if you need a nic fix, that'll do it. I think only the zoo coils have the metal sleeve, so I might try the V4. Mine has not leaked yet. The Hive drinks more juice and battery charge than the triple I presently have in the tfv4. The Crown or Herk Plus could be an all day vape. The V8 Mini would be more or less like using a dripper, without the flavor.

My TFV4 is the full-size model, so I wasn't aware that the smaller tanks had the same issue as the V8's "Beast" coils. It's not my favorite tank as I can only get the flavor I really want out of the monster Claptons, but the quad/octo-Claptons make for a good vape and have a longer lifespan than most coils. I've tried the Vaporessos, both the original 0.9-ohm Kanthals and the newer 0.5-ohm SS317 coils. Both have the same sleeve/top-ring problem. They put out a nice clean flavor, but you have to give them time between each pull to re-wick or you'll get a dry hit. I mostly just use them in my Sig Mini when the wife starts complaining that she can't see the TV. I found that I have to play the same waiting game with the V8 mini, but I'm somewhat of an overzealous chain vaper and I've got the patience of a 5-year-old, so I don't handle that too well. If you haven't yet, give the Snake a try. You might just grab one if a local store will sell it to you. I started on them that way when the dude at VaporWorld tossed me a freebee when I was there grabbing three cases of 0.25 Crown coils. You still have to play the waiting game, but they don't require quite the power load to get a really nice flavor and they last about twice as long as the Hive or the Tiger, at least in my experience. I've only been through 11 of them after burning through a box each of the HIves and Tigers in 2 weeks, but I definitely thought they were the best of the three, and they didn't drink juice quite as fast as either of the other two coils.

Unfortunately, it looks like the V1s and V2s have the sleeve/top-ring just like the zoo coils. The V4 doesn't, but I prefer the TFV4 quad Claptons by far. I want to give the V8s a try, but I'm sure they'll go through juice like an F-350 dually chugs petrol. Keep me posted if you get a hold of the V1s or V2s. If they're any good I'll pick some up. Until I hear otherwise, though, my V8 Mini is going to be strictly a Snake coil machine, I'm afraid.

Although I've heard good things about the original Arctic and the Herekles, I have yet to see more than the random poster claiming they're better than the Crown. Even Uwell couldn't top it with the Rafale. As much as I like spending cash on new toys, I think I'm done buying tanks for a while.

Well, I say that but I'm seriously considering getting the IPV 5 next weekend and seeing if the Pure X2 or whatever it's called is as cool as it sounds. I'm also eyeing the Krixus. Oh, who am I kidding? I can't get through a month without dropping $200-$300 on juice and gadgets. Ugh, I need a cheaper hobby, like collecting diamonds or something. :gaah:

Thanks for the pics. I think any hobby would be cheaper. Noticed you were in Tulsa...... lived there in the early 90's, good couple of years. The original Herakles, bottom fill and all, is still relevant 13-14 months after its' release which is saying something, and almost as nice as the Plus. I also have a Starre V1, which is very decent, when you get a good coil (not all are good). Original Arctic, never had much luck with the coils. TFV4, tried the quad Clapton and it was great. Have not tried the octo yet. The typical tri and quad kanthal don't do that much for me. CLP2 is nice flavor lower wattage coil, can burn if pushed. Now we are seeing tfv4 compatibles, like the Coral, Charon, and Vaporwerx. Steam Engine- wasn't a big fan.

Yeah, well I live in Tulsa with my wife and two kids but I work in Stillwater. It's the best of both worlds. I get to be a grown-up and take advantage of Tulsa's shows and concerts, coffeehouses and restaurants, but I get to come to work every week and take in the gorgeous young eye candy I'm too old to play with any more...but I'm not too old to enjoy a good look from time to time! I'm assuming from your username you were born in '74. I'm a Star Wars baby, literally. I was born exactly two weeks before it came out on May 25th, 1977. I was born in D.C. but I grew up in Tulsa, so I was in high school at the time you were around.

I've heard good things about the Freemax, but I'll probably pull the trigger on a Herekles first. I'm really looking to give some of this new technology a try first, though, either ceramic (aside from the Vaporesso, obviously) or re-wickable. I'm completely with you on the TFV4 and the normal tri and quad coils being a disappointment. You should probably give the 8 a try some time, but bring a big bottle of juice because it drinks the stuff. I'd say the flavor is a tad stronger than the quad, but nowhere near twice as powerful. I thought the dual Clapton was okay, but I may have been pushing it too hard. I think I've still got one or two at the house so I'll have to give them another run once I've burned through the quad clapton that's in there now.

Personally, I don't like most of the branded TFV4 coils enough to buy them again, so why I would spend money on knock-offs is beyond me. I guess some people just love seeing room-filling clouds leave their mouths, flavor be damned. I'm the exact opposite. I could care less how big the cloud is so long as the flavor is front and center. If I can't taste the stuff, then why not just buy a cheap gallon of PG/VG mix and add some nicotine instead of dropping twenty bucks on every 30ml bottle?

Well I Own Both Crown (Tried 0.25/0.5 and Ni200 coils) and V8 Mini (Tried Tiger coils) and trust me if you are here for flavor then Crown trumps V8 Mini as V8 Mini will surely get you clouds but flavor, now that will leave you wanting.
V8 Mini vape on Tiger coils is a warm vape with good vapor production but very little flavor.
However, I am searching net for awhile and people recommend Snake coils for flavor which I have to try but unable to do so as they don't send one with the tank and one has to buy separately. Now I am not willing to put more money on a 5 pack coil especially when I am not so impressed with current coil performance.

I also own both tanks and have tried most of the coils for the V8, including all three "animal" coils, and all of the Crown coils. The Crown definitely beats the V8 with all coils except the Snake, which I would rank 1A) Crown 0.25 dual SS coils and 1B) V8 Snake coils. Since you already own the tank, you should give the Snake coils a try. I'm a flavor chaser who could care less about cloud size (I'm married and not trying to impress anybody with my impression of a smoke machine at a Whitesnake concert) and I can say without hesitation that the Snakes are almost, if not as good as the Crown 0.25s. At $2.70 (at Perfectvape) they're only $0.45 more per unit than the Crown 0.25s ($2.25 at Vaporworld). The only other two coils I would put in the same category as these two are the Cleito clapton 0.4s and the TFV4 octuple claptons (noting that the TF-T8s last longer than any of the four but require a 1-2 tank break-in period before achieving full flavor), but neither is quite as good as the Crown or the Snake for flavor. Just my two cents, but I've been doing this for over two years and gone through well over a dozen tanks in my search for the strongest flavor available. If it were me and I'd already dropped the $20-$25 for the V8 Mini, I'd go ahead and drop another $14 for a 5-pack of Snakes and give them a try. I still primarily use the Crown, but I always keep some Snakes and some Cleito 0.4s on-hand, and when I'm flush I'll grab a pack of TF-T8s because of their longevity and the fact that I've already dropped so much money on the TFV4 that I can't stand to just let it sit there on a shelf, laughing at me because the rest of its coils aren't even as good as the Atom Vapes "Aspire" claptons, which are a complete waste of money, btw. Anyway, hope this helps. Don't toss out the tank until you've given the Snakes a go. They're worth it, in my humble opinion.
