flavour lost with RBA (subtank mini)

I just made my first build with the equipment i got in the Kanger Subox Mini kit. Included pre-wrapped coils, cotton and an RBA.
Followed tutorials i've read and it's firing fine. No dry hits or popping, and I primed the cotton a bit more than I do regular coils, but the flavour seems to have diminished substantially in comparison to the pre-made coils.
Both are at 0.5ohm, and i'm using the same juice with each coil. Is there anything that i'm doing wrong that makes it lack flavour or are RBA's just substantially less flavourful?

Thanks for your help in advance x

Hard to tell.
A little more info on your build and an image would be helpful

I'm totally new to this, so i'm not sure what other info I can give other than answering questions. Everything but the taste seems to be completely fine. Hopefully this photo helps.

The pre-built coils were fine, but the ones you made by hand are not?

Good suggestion @VapeShark, I'd try that first. Also make sure you dry fire your coil to check for hot spots as well & that it's glowing from the inside out. Try to get your wraps as even as possible.

Edit: Like so (Not my build)

Did you wash your RDA with hot soapy water and a brush before using it?

Sounds like machine oil.
An old toothbrush works great for this. And you have to do it on all new tanks & RDAs.

(I think the earlier guy wanted to know what type of wire and gauge you're using and if that's cotton.)

I never washed it, but wiped it down so that could have been my downfall. I'm not sure what wire/gauge I used since it was a pre-built coil that came with my subox kit, along with Japanese cotton.

I also dry fired it prior to putting in the cotton and it all looked good, sorry i didn't mention that before.

No worries. I'd always give a new device a hot water & soap bath prior to use. And I'll usually soak mine in (Preferrably) 91% Isopropyl. Make sure to remove the o-rings as safely as possible before this. If you still get lack of taste after all that, post an update, it may be your wicking.
