Disney and Lucasfilm are in no rush to submit Star Wars: The Force Awakens for awards consideration, with the studios preferring instead to ensure the film's plot is not spoiled.
According to The Wrap, the upcoming sci-fi epic from director J.J. Abrams won't be entered in the National Board of Review's Best Film competition. As such, it won't be eligible for the board's top 10 list, which will be revealed on December 1.
The outlet also reports The Force Awakens won't be in the running for the New York Film Critics Circle awards, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association honors, or the Screen Actors Guild Awards, as nominations for each all take place before the film's December 18 release.
