FUhattan sparking

Ok, I got a new fuhattan yesterday and when I fired it up there were sparks comming out from around the brass button and the aluminum housing. I took the button completely apart and cleaned all the threads and contacts. Inside the housing there was a lot of dirt and burrs from the machineining. It's alot better than it was but there still is a spark every now and then when the utton is pressed a certain way, and you can only see said spark while in the dark. I'm guessing that the button isn't making good contact inside the housing due to the magnet being higher than the rim of the recess that it sits in on the button. When the side of the button makes contact in the housing after making contact with the negative on the battery it makes a better path for the current, this is what I'm guessing is causing the spark. Does anyone agree or have another theory? Am I ok to continue use or should I put it out to pasture?

You've got it figured out alright. Does it cause a problem? No. All that current has to get from the switch to the tube and back to the coil. You're just seeing the contact being made. Sparking can cause corrosion at the point of the spark, so occasional cleaning would be needed to keep the contact resistance low.

It does not make your mod dangerous though.

Perfect, thank you!

If your switch is getting hot because of it then the problem is that your switch is robing power from the coils. Coils will not get all the power from the battery because some of it is used to heat up that switch. Lower you build hoter that switch gonna get. Difference between good and bad tube is in materials used and how well is that switch designed. It should not get hot at all. It is ok if mod heats up because of the heat transfer from atty but it is not acceptable if it has a "hot" switch problem which is a most common problem with cloned tubes. What is the point of having a mod that doesn't hit as hard as battery allows it to? I ditched all the tubes that were suffering from hot switch and kept the ones that are functioning properly. Some of the Fuhattans work great and some are worthless since just about every clone manufacturer were makin it.

Keep vaping. A hot switch is a definite sign of a short, and demands IMMEDIATE attention. Usually when I have a hot switch my reaction time is very quick since the thing is burning my finger! What you are seeing is simply the connection being made. Any exposed switch or relay contacts in a dark room will do the same thing.
