Funimation founder and CEO Gen Fukunaga has voiced some criticisms of the Evangelion franchise going over to Netflix, claiming Funimation would have done a better job handling the property.
In an interview with Polygon, Funkunaga said "Honestly, Netflix is willing to significantly overpay for something like
and outbid anybody by multiples, no matter what their
is. I’m 100-percent sure that we’d have done a much better job brand-managing it and turning it back into what it was... It’s unfortunate for Funimation — we really wanted that title.
