I have a Zeus dual coil with 2 fused clapton coils at .196 ohms. I have them in my rta for about 4 days and dry burned them a few times. They have a copper color or a rust color. Is this ok. They were prebuilt coils that say they're kanthal a1.

See it a lot with cheap kanthal wire. Switch to Ni80, or try some ss, you might even like the taste of those better.

Anyone seen this before

Yes, I have.

If you can not change coils this time around you may want to try a small wire brush.

Also, Try to clean the inside surface of the coil.

A small pipe cleaner would work for the inside.

I would suggest changing the coils when you get a chance.

When you dry burn the coils when you change cotton just strum the coils with a screwdriver to get off the gunk.

Don't cool the coil with water because it will cause it to rust much faster.

Buy your Kanthal A1 from TEMCo. I have never had any issue with the quality of their wire.
They have SS wire as well, under non-resistance wire, I believe.
