Anyone have any insight on this?

I putting an order together and can only get FW dulce de leche, since TFA is out of stock.
Is it close enough to pass in a vanilla custard recipe?

I normally try to get my diy flavors, nic, and vg from no more than two different places at a time and im beating my freaking head against the wall trying to find everything I need.

I can't help, but I never use that flavor in custard recipes. I know it's popular, but to me it adds a funky taste!

(Disregard as an unhelpful response LOL)

I currently reading about FA catalan and vienna cream, which I may get instead. Probably different, but thats ok, I need a replacement for TFA bavarian cream too. Ive seen a couple experienced mixers here that use them, and they rarely steer me wrong.

Im ordering from bull city and trying to fill in the gaps (from whats out of stock), with comparable flavors, most of which ive never tried. I use caps van custard as my base, and go from there. At least they have that (but dont have any VG:mad:).

Late night research time.

I appreciate the help amanda, its more helpful than you may think.

Im gonna get the catalan and vienna cream, and see where they take me. This could be a good thing, circumstances forcing me to try new things.

I dig the caps custard. It takes a while to get good, but the wait is worth it.

I hate to be a pain, but if you have any links or examples of using the FA creams with a vanilla custard recipe Id really appreciate it.
Ive been working with TFA and CAPS exclusively, so im a little new to other flavor companies.

I think the creams I have been using have been used with FA custard - which is a different animal entirely than Caps custard. My favorite custard recipe at the moment is this one, which doesn't use any FA creams, but lots of FA flavors is:
