Game of Thrones: "Hardhome" Review

Now THAT'S more like it. What an exceptionally savage and exciting final fifteen minutes. "Hardhome" actually sort of broke the "Episode 9 is the most exciting, impactful episode of the season" rule here. I'm assuming, of course. Next week could still deliver big.

Then again, this season hasn't really been filled with too many memorable endings. I'm not counting the ending here as the winner by default though. This was some seriously awesome s***. Episode 9-worthy, in fact.

There's nothing like massive full-tilt assault by the army of the dead (moving way faster than when we saw them back at the end of Season 2) to bring two feuding parties together. Jon and Tormund had managed to wrangle up some serious supporters (who joined in on the plan mainly because they trusted Tormund), but not everyone. Then the dead attacked and people couldn't wait to get south of the Wall. And the way it all started was excellent. Dogs barking. Rustles in the wind. Something happening on the ground that you couldn't see. Screams. Dust kicking up off the ground. People running for shelter. It all built up so damn well.
