Ok so today I went to a local vape shop and bought a pair of 18650 batteries for istick 100w that I ordered. I'm new to these mods so I didn't think anything of the green batteries with a white label saying 18650 2500mah. There is no brand name on them they are just green? I'm not sure if I should use them?

Hmmm....should be something on that battery...VTC4, VTC5, 25R...something.
No very light lettering that is coming from underneath the green wrap? Anything else you can peel off (except the green wrap)?

Can you post a couple of clear pictures of both sides of the battery?

OK, that's a VTC3, VTC4, or VTC5.
You should see two lines of very light printing on the side, along with a logo the the right. The printing is on the metal can underneath so it's quite faint. It's often coverd by the white label.

At the shop they had blue and purple also and the sales person said they were all the same just different colors

For your iStick 100W, the green batteries you have should be OK. That's assuming that they aren't counterfeits.

As for the sales person who told you that the different color batteries are all the same...well...he's wrong. But, for two batteries in a 100W device you have a lot of options and perhaps the sales person was just saying that they would all work OK in that device. He's probably right. But, knowing which battery you have goes a long way towards being safe as there are some batteries that are not good for use in that device.

Definitely want to make sure they at least have the printing underneath the label...no sony battery has 2500mAh so that's sketchy right off the bat. And clearly your sales person doesn't know what he's doing.

Even if they have the printing they could be fake but at least that gives you some confidence.

Don't think of them as generic batteries, more like original equipment cells. They're the best kind as long as they are genuine. Pretty much the only guaranteed true thing on the label of a branded cell is the nominal voltage. Amp limit and sometimes even capacity are often lies.

As others have said, thus is definitely a Sony battery of some kind. It's entirely possible that the sticker is a miss print and it's a VTC5, or they're exaggerating the specs and it's a VTC4.

There will definitely be writing printed on there somewhere. It's faint on Sony cells though.

Samsung 25rs are now being shipped with green wraps and are 2500mAh. They're most likely sammies, but I'd need to see them without the label and get a shot of the positive terminal to be sure.

Good point about the 2500mAh but in my experience the 25R5's don't have the square code box seen in the above pictures.

Definitely not Samsung. No Samsung cell has a 2d barcode, they're either Sony or fake Sony.

The Samsung green is a little lighter than the Sony, that looks more like the green of my vtc3s.

Huh. Yeah. The color could just be lighting, but the code box is not in fact on a sammie. Those are some sort of Sony which worryingly increases the likely-hood of them being fake.
