Griffin 25 RTA -- Wicking Help Needed

Frustration has finally got the better of me and I need to ask for ideas.
I've been reading, researching, watching video after video, reading everyone else's "pains" with this tank and keep shaking my head saying --- ya, me to, me to, ok, i'll go try that now ...
I know I'm :deadhorse: with this post, but I'm at a point that I need help.

Coil Build:
- Single 3mm ID Staged Clapton Coil
(Coil idea came from purecoils.com -- Thank you!)

- 24g KA-1, 36g KA-1 wrap, 24g N80 staging coil. (All LV wire)
- Comes in at .20 ohm
Wicking:
- Japanese Cotton Pad, cut to 4mm wide, front/back layer peeled off.
MOD:
- Wismec RX200S
Mode/Power:
- 40-60 watts tried with this build.

I have tried MANY other builds, using all variations of wire (KA1, N80, SS316L), from very basic single coil, twisted, parallel, single clapton, dual clapton. Last night was a simple twisted 26g SS316L on 3mm ID, using the SAME wicking style, running in TC @ 470F and VW mode. --- Good flavor, no leaks, no issues -- I was happy but didn't have "great" flavor, it was "OK".

This evening I decided to venture out again with my first Staged Clapton.

I ran this same coil build on my Twisted Messes 2 RDA and man was it SWEET!!! I loved it so much (flavor chaser I am) that I wanted it in my Griffin. So I built another one and got her all fired up and wicked. The first few hits at 40 watts and the flavor was outstanding, but still cold. SO -- I started taking her up by 5 watts. As I got to about 50ish I started noticing that I had to wait about 3 minutes before taking another vape on it. Once I hit 60 the first vape was awesome, then I took another vape about 10 seconds later and my head about blew off with the dry hit that I received.

On the positive side, you're not having leaking issues.
I found the problem while looking closely at the pics.
It's all wet.
No, I'm being an ass, sorry.
I am of no help here really.
I've only tried ONE with a single coil build and I hated it. (Wismec Inde DUO)
Flavor is also what I seek.
Personally I always run my cotton a bit longer than that so they'd just touch the bottom of the juice wells.
I also use cotton bacon.
However based on your description and pics, I personally can find nothing wrong with it.
Then again, as I said, I'm not a one trick pony, I like dual coils.
(kudos by the way for being one of the very few that provided all the relevant info AND included pics right off the bat without being asked by nine different people)
For me, I'd run that resistance at about 90 - 100 watts.
However you stated you were getting dry hits at 60.
I find that odd.
I'm definitely going to follow this to see what it turns out to be.
Just for shits and giggles, I assume you verified the mod is reading the build correctly and possibly even tried it on another mod?
Judging by the info you've provided I speculate you've also tried other things but left them out do to the likelihood they were lesser probability.

I would love to vape out with dual coils --- but I can't nail this problem. KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) -- Start simple and work my way up theory.

kudos by the way
;) See -- I said I'd been watching, researching, reading -- blah blah blah --- I know the rules ;)

reading the build correctly and possibly even tried it on another mod
Sure did --- put it on my coilmaster and pulled the coil and put it in my TM2 on a Pico 75 -- Same exact readings on all three.

tried other things but left them out
I've tried so many things with the wicking that I can't think of what else to try.

Also, I forgot to mention in the original post (see, I did forget something). I vape DIY juice at 30PG/70VG. This evening I also tried my 50/50 juice just because it was pissing me off.

BTW --- I HATE the CoilMaster 521 Tab --- what :poop: -- It's going back to Amazon this week.
This damn thing won't read a consistent ohm to save my life. Regardless of the deck I put on it. Even a Melo 3 tank with a authentic coil bounces around. Wiggle it just right, hold your tongue just so, and maybe get a good reading.

I have 3 working CoilMaster 521 Tab and one broken one (center pin broke and I haven't taken the time to open it up) as well as 3 working GeekVape 521 Tab.
I definitely like the GeekVape more.

Flavor Chasers Corner >>> I'm already on the Avacado 24 research train. Leaning (somewhat, same MFG) this way if this Griffin keeps this crap up.

So -- This evening I pulled the Staged Clapton Coil and put the following coil in:

Standard Clapton Coil | 24g SS316 Core w/ 36g KA1 outer @ 9/8 wraps on 3mm ID -- came in at .46ohm
Rewicked the cotton using the same JA Cotton sheet, cut specifically at 13.5mm wide and wicked the coil. Used the same exact wicking technique (just sitting on the top of the ring / just 'kinda' in it.
Ran a few vapes @ 40w using 30/70 :ejuice: to get the start heat where I wanted -- started leaking like a sieve again. :headbang:
Pulled the tank and pressed the cotton into the ring a 'very slight bit' and put it back together.
Set the RX200s to TC-SS mode, locked the coil ohm, set the ramp up at 40W and temp at 470F.

So far --- so good
Flavor is outstanding as I would expect. I've not got a dry hit, yet ...
