Griffin vs Avacado

I got a original Griffin tank about a year ago. I think its a great tank. I messed around with different wires and made coils for it. I prefered it to my alternate tank which is an Atlantis2. I ended up shattering the glass and the replacement. So I needed a new tank.

I read around about other Geekvape products and saw great reviews for the Avacado. It looked like the Griffin sort of except the deck is above the glass. I picked out a silver Avacado 24. Later I saw it comes in bottom air flow but o'well.

Why do they create such a different experience? I prefer my old griffin tank quite a bit. Does the vapor traveling up through a tube do something special lol?

Im new but I can tell posters here really know your stuff. I hope I can gain knowledge through advice so I get the right stuff from now on.

I used reg kanthal or clapton dual coils at 45-50 watts. Nic level 6 (down from 12).

Do you have either of these tanks?
Which do you prefer?
Is the Griffin 25 better with top air flow?
What is an ideal coil for the Avavado?

Is the atlantis1 glass any different than the atlantis2? If not, I have a spare glass and like 6 unused coils from my old atlantis1 tank that has been sitting for almost a year. Pay for shipping and it's yours. But you have to praise me tat you won't drop and break the tank glass anymore :). I've never broken any glass in my vaping experience.... *knocks on wood*

I also have a griffin 22mm (non-top air flow) and it isn't bad. I haven't quite gotten the wicking down yet. Either that or I'm demanding too much from it and it starts to dry burn every once in awhile. Just basic 7 wrap kanthal coils in it that measures out to .5 ohm. Never tried an avocado, but I have a wismec theorem which I think is similar; not a fan of it.

That's very generous of you, thanks. I might take you up on that. It's really nice of you. I'm hard on glass. It sucks because Im nowhere near a vape shop.

It took me a while too to get the wicking (griffin) just right. The key for me was to cut the cotton shorter. Just enough to tuck in the ring with a little hanging down. No leaks or dry burn hits after that.

May I ask whats your favorite RTA? I need a better one and am not exclusive to geekvape.

I have 2 Griffin25 and 1 Avocado. My Avocado is the older bottom air flow version. I like my avocado but the griffins are better.
As you mentioned, once you learn how to wick the Griffin it doesn't leak or cause dry hits.

There's only 2 things I don't like about the Griffin:
1. Bottom afc gets loose and spins freely.
2. Top afc ruins flavor.
**********
Yes bottom airflow is best. With top airflow, some of the air you inhale is not heated and flavored by the coils. That's why you get a muted taste and cooler hit. With bottom airflow, the air is forced around and through the coils before it is inhaled.

The biggest knock against bottom airflow is that they can leak. But as you have learned, if you wick it right, it shouldn't leak. With my Griffin I don't even shut off the juice control when filling. Nor do I do the Boreas burp like with my other tanks.

Geek vape makes a simple version of the Griffin. It doesn't have top afc, which is useless to me. It's pretty affordable too!

Thanks for the link freind. Im ordering a couple probably tomorrow. I always wondered about the top air flow caps they came out with. I imagined if I actually had one that it would be closed anyways. They can be drafty enough from the bottom wide open. Is the top air flow version adjustable?

Single coil .8 ohm builds in the Avocado 24 is what I've been vaping for about a year now. I like the simplicity.

I bought it the same time as the Boreas and that tank has been sitting full on the counter almost 6 months.

Too each his own I guess.

If you like your Griffin why not just get a replacement glass?

the Griffin and Avocado are nothing alike.

If you're looking into RDTAs (Avocado) I'd go with the Limitless classic/combo instead.
