Guillermo del Toro has announced that he will be co-directing a stop motion animated version of the beloved tale of Pinocchio.
As reported by Deadline, Pinocchio will be his first feature deal to direct since 2017's The Shape of Water, in which he won Best Director and the film won Best Picture at the Oscars.
As with del Toro's other films, his version of Pinocchio will be a much darker version, and the director has taken inspiration from "Gris Grimly's original designs drawn from Carlo Collodi's 1883 novel, the Adventures of Pinocchio."
