On the night of October 31, 1978, Michael Myers, AKA The Shape, killed three people… and then a whole bunch of other people that same night. Or maybe it was just those first three? One thing’s for sure, his main target, teenager Laurie Strode, was his sister. Well, unless she isn’t. But what we do know is that Laurie went on to have a daughter… No, scratch that, she had a son. No, wait, a daughter!

John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic Halloween was a critically acclaimed breakout hit and created a long-running franchise in the process. But one thing it didn’t create was an easy to follow timeline. The new Halloween film -- the third movie in this franchise to use that exact title -- is getting a ton of buzz and positive reviews, including from IGN. But those who are more casual viewers of Michael Myers and his slashing ways may step into the theater a bit confused. Just incidentally speaking, I’ve personally witnessed discussions at my local movie theater, along with a ton of online chatter, that ponders how this new movie fits in with the other sequels, especially given the events of Halloween H20 and Halloween: Resurrection (the seventh and eighth films in the franchise, respectively) and how they dealt with Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.
