I could have done without the extended flashback that began this episode, showing us events from the Season 2 finale again. It went on so long, without adding anything new (unlike a later dream sequence that also incorporated previously seen moments) that it almost felt like the episode came in short and they needed to pad the time. But after that, there was plenty of good stuff to, ahem, chew on.
Because Will Graham is back! …And his life is as miserable as ever, naturally.
Yes, the second episode of Season 3 let us know that Will did survive that night in Hannibal’s house (though we still weren’t given info on Alana or Jack) while also deftly playing with our emotions by making us believe that Abigail had survived too… only for it to be revealed she didn’t make it and Will was imagining her accompanying him to Italy. Using his own “Memory Palace” in the way Hannibal once told him about.
