Ah yes, that would be Mr. Jack Crawford traveling abroad. So, Jack is alive and seemingly okay (physically). But he’s a man with a lot of regret. Alana warned him he was pushing Will too far (though it was mixed, for a time, with her fear that Will had become a killer as a result) and now that he saw up close and personal what Hannibal was capable of, he has followed Will, who has followed Hannibal… But, as he notes to Rinaldo, this is all about getting Will back for him now, not about capturing Hannibal Lecter.
Jack, by his nature, isn’t the most openly warm of characters, so I like this new “mission” of his, as it shows him motivated by his own mixture of compassion and guilt, rather than “we’ve got to catch this guy.” Of course, you’d think he would still want Hannibal Lecter caught or killed, so we’ll see just how impassive he can remain when he and Hannibal end up in each other’s direct orbit again.
