So I've been starting my coil-building experience with a Mutation xS. Not bad at all, not bad at all. I've got a Griffin RTA still in the box, waiting for me to get good enough with some uncomplicated coils and wicking, so the xS has been really great to practice on. To date macro coils and parallel coils have been successfully done multiple times. Fused Claptons are next, I just need to find the damn time to spend a few hours fooling around.

My only argument with the xS was that at higher power it really started to heat up. The top cap and drip tip would get hot after a few long hits. I figured a taller RDA might solve the issue, with the relevant bits being further from the coils, so I ordered a Hatty. Figured it'd be another great "entry level" thing to play around on. Plus it's a Velocity-style deck, so anything I do here is directly transferrable to the Griffin.

This thing is pretty badass! Found one online for $20, also badass! So far, zero leaking through the bottom air holes. Have a pair of 24G Kanthal parallel coils in there, reads right around 0.2 ohms. And yes, the issue I had with the much shorter xS is apparently alleviated by using a "full-size" RDA.

And now, a stupid question. This thing has pretty deep juice wells. If I just dump juice down there, will it wick through the cotton? Is that the purpose? My brain says "yes stupid, it's sorta like how an RTA works", but I figured I'd ask the stupid question before simply pouring a bit of juice in there and seeing what happens!

And of course, with as great as this guy is, now I want to try a Tsunami and see if it's noticeably different...
