Have you ever had 30ml unicorn bottles that are actually less than 30ml

I recently notice that my unicorn bottles do not hold 30ml of juice. When I mix, my last ingredient is always VG so the fact that the last bit never fit into the bottle never mattered. Now that I mix by weight and I'm trying to predetermine the final volume, based on weight, I've been doing some measuring and I now notice that these bottles are more like 28.5ml if you don't fill to the brim.

Have any of you ever ran into this issue? With this being the case I guess I'd better make 28ml batches.

IDK what bottles you are using, but if I fill my bottle by exact gravity weight of the ingredients, I always have room left in the bottle and am at 30ml.

All the bottles (Glass) that I use have head room to allow for expansion. To test if it is actually not 30MLs I would measure water by volume and fill the bottle to check if you scale is not calibrated or just wrong. Possibly you are using the wrong Specific Gravity for your liquids? Good Luck

I have a couple of dark plastic bottles that Vapor Beast sent me for free that only seem to hold about 26 or 27 mil to the bottom of the neck.
My others hold a bit over 30 ml.

A bottle that holds 26-27 would actually be a 25ML because standard headspace in a bottle is 1-2MLs.

I went back and checked the invoice and it's described as a 30ml unicorn bottle. They were bought from Heartland Vapes and in their defense these bottles have been knocking around for a couple years in a tropical climate.

Wow, still have an invoice a couple of years later? Cheers to you for serious record keeping~! I doubt the Tropical climate would make the plastic shrink though.............

LoL no I'm not that efficient, Heartland Vapes keeps the information on my account and you're probably right it's not the heat. I recall that I could never get the last bit of VG my recipes called for.Heartland Vapes, they carry all of the popular brands of flavorings.

You need to check them with water like I said a while back. See if they only hold as much as you are thinking using weight. With Volume... I never had a bottle not hold what it was supposed to.

I checked with some 30ml plastic measuring cups and with a syringe, they're 28.5ml - strange.

I usually don't even measure the VG I'm putting in. I top it off by eye balling it. I know that's not really precision. But I don't really care. Close enough...lol I haven't had any real adverse situations using my method.

I do the same now but when I was using a graduated beaker there was always headspace. So now I estimate how much room to leave. So it might be 71% VG like I give 2 shits? Vape On Safely~!
