My vapemail today will be the KFL+ v2 with nano kit. I've been loving my rsst but when I'm going out I don't like to carry extra juice or blow big clouds so I decided to get another KFL. Any recommendations on a build? I usually do 28g 6-9 wraps. I don't want it to be too warm so I'm thinking something around 1ohm. Suggestions?

28 is what you have? Try a 9 wrap on a 1.5-2.5mm mandrel... you'll end up around 1.3Ω+/-, which is a pretty good place to start with a KFL/R91%.
If you want to run right at 1.0Ω+/-... I'd go to a 8 wrap of 27 gauge. I always work with (what I consider to be) an "optimized" coil wrap count/gauge range/maximum surface area of 8-12 wraps.
Lately, I've been experimenting with 27 gauge 8 wrap on a 3mm mandrel for 1.3Ω... more surface area, more wick to coil exposure. Pretty tasty.

I've got 28g, 26g and 24g. I think I want to be at least at 1ohm. I'm running it on a cana and I've heard with the 30 watt mods they run better at higher ohms. I'll be sure to reference your response when I'm building. Thanks.

I've run as low as 0.5Ω and up to around 1.7Ω... and keep coming back to the 0.9Ω - 1.3Ω range as one that works nicely in genuine KFLs, KF 3.1s, R91%s and their dead on 1:1 clones, for flavor with a broad range of juice blends.
Wick has been near anything... the KF "pressure differential-true boundary layer" design isn't all that picky. Cotton, rayon, hemp, silica, ramie, XC116... if it fit's the coil with a slight drag, isn't rolled too densely and is about 1" long... you're just about guaranteed a good vape. I've been using rayon (Cellucotton) for a few months off and on... capillary action is fantastic, so works well with thick, sirupy juices.

Yup, 8 wraps of 28 gauge on a 5/64" drill bit or a 14gauge needle gets me around 1.3-1.4, which is my prefered coil on my KFL's and Russian 91%. Super tasty, great vapor and just the right amount of warmth for my taste.

Help! Built 3 different coils on here. 9 wraps on 2mm screwdriver 28g. All reading .038 ohms which is way off. When I put it on my cana it says shorted. Something is wrong with this thing!

Is the negative tail touching the positive deck, or the coil touching the air tube that holds the positive deck on?

Also... wrap your coil in the opposite direction it's currently wrapped, so that the negative tail wraps onto the screw at 3 o:clock (when the screw is at 6 o:clock) and the positive tail wraps onto the screw at 9 o:clock (again, with the negative screw in the 6 o:clock position.
This will automatically orient the coil so that it lays diagonally, between the screws, with it's open ends at 10 and 4.... allowing you to insert your wick and 'S' wrap it onto the deck.

Yeah that coil looks a little low. Put your screwdriver in it and make sure its a couple mm over the airhole with none of the Kanthal touching the bed . Your coil should sort of look like /T\ without the line coming down from the T.

Also make sure the positive screw on the bottom, model depending, is nice and tight. Mine loosened up and caused the post to wiggle a little and in turn caused a short.

And that's not how I usually wrap them. I did it the opposite way the first 2 times so that it would be neater but had that one already wrapped and threw it on cause I was fed up.

Is there any way to drill out the air holes? If not I'm not going to be able to vape this thing. Don't get me wrong, I really want to like it, but there's not enough air flow. I'm used to my RSST, but don't expect that much airflow, I just want to be able to take straight lung hits. I'm sure I need to clean out the holes because I think there is some machining residue left in there. What's the best way to clean it out?
