Is the heat from chain vaping on sub ohm coils bad for battery health? Can it damage the cells at all?

Heat is bad for battery health, yes. They're generally meant to take being about 75 degrees C for relatively short periods without being hurt (that's about 165 F). More than that and they're outside their comfort zone.
