how hot should the water be to heat steep. I made a batch of and heat steeped it with almost boiling water is this to hot. made my juice taste nasty dont know if its that or to much flavoring
I'm not big into heat steeping, but I wouldn't recommend anything over 150°. Be sure to let it reach room temp before trying it. BTW, this is no method of steeping better than time.
I replied to your other post. It's probably the fact you used too much flavoring as to why your juice tasted bad. Like the other guy said 150 degrees (use a thermomete) for 3-4 hours. When you take em out shake em really hard while it's really thin and let em breathe for just like a hour or something.
I do about 150-160 when power steeping stuff I make for other people, and never get any complaints. Don't try it with anything heavy on the fruit flavoring side though.
