(HELP) My DIY liquid is taste sweet on dripper, yet taste awful in my tank.

Hi all, I've been making plenty of bottle on my DIY journey and most of my eliquid (all i think) is taste sweet and flavourful on my dripper BUT when i put the liquid on my tank (Kanger subtank mini), all the sweetness and taste become bald as I just inhale only the scent, no sweetness at all. I understand based on reading that top coil tank tend to mute the flavour and sweetness but why the vendor that sells liquid can solve this issue and their liquid still sweet and flavourful on tank.

This discouraged me so much as I spent most of my time for DIY, reading the guide, tips tricks (REDDIT ECF AND ETC) but all I achieve is nothing. Please help me to solve this beginner (me) issue.

All recipe that I made will add on :

1% citric acid
1% EM
3% sucralose
4% cooling agent

This 4 ingredient is a must on my recipe and flavour is vary depends on the recipe either cloned or by thread because if I don't add these, all i can taste is just plain scent vape even on dripper. I use all of my batches TPA and by drops (35 drops per ml). The percentages of flavour I use based on the chart that given along my journey of the DIY. I also understand that overused percentage of flavor tend to make it worst, but theres a thread said that tripled the percentages helps. I think I read too much that makes me confused. :(

Personally, I find better flavor at lower percents, definitely not triple.

My first thoughts on the ingredients you listed is that the last 2 are killing your flavor.

Thanks for the reply. is it too much if I add :

7% pear TPA
3% honeydew TPA
3% peach juicy TPA
1%EM
1%CA
3% Sucralose
4% Cooling agent

Do i need to reduce the percentage? And do I need to replace the Sucralose and cooling agent with anything else? Because I like it sweet and cool. I live on very hot country, so vaping with cooling seems good.

I've noticed the same thing, having to up my mixes by a few percent in my tanks
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

I wouldn't kick the additives up at all, in fact, that cooling agent (guessing Koolada here?) at 4% seems wicked high to me... and if you're running Sucralose, why the EM? I'm with Huck and think that the last two additives are a tad high (also, 3% sucralose will gunk a coil stupid fast.)

You didn't mention your PG/VG ratios, and if you were using the RBA section, or the normal heads. Does make a difference. I know my Subtank is kinda just a pretty paper weight for me now, so I can't help much, but I remember the stock heads being crap.

Tripling a flavorant I don't think would ever "help" as you're just exacerbating the problem of the "overflavoring". You're normal flavorings (pear, peach and cantaloupe) all look pretty solid in the percentages. Honestly, I'd make a small bottle 10ml or whatever (without Nic- cause if its ass, why waste the nic, y'know?) of the three flavorings, and ONLY add a small percentage of the koolada (if that's what you're using... still can't see that at 4%- talking like 2 drops here) and either 2 drops of EM or 2 drops of Sucralose.

Mix it up however you would normally, give it a warm water steep, shake and vape. See if its better. That's the beauty of DIY, is you can learn new tricks, and everyone won't like the same percentages, but the ones listed on forums and whatnot are usually a good starting point.
Hope this helps!

Exodus also brings up excellent points. I've had a FEW tanks come close, but nothing near to what I can get out of a well built flavor chasing dripper.

Thanks for the reply. I bought 'COOLING AGENT', not koolada. And also Im using UC steep method. Its work but the flavour tend to mute on tank. I will try not using additive at all on the next batch and see how it goes. But as for cooling and sweetener i need to put it bit as I love sweet and cool on mouth. Is 2 drops Sucralose and cooling agent per 10ml is enough? Or add subsequently?

My ratio is always on 50/50 and 60PG/40VG. Im using RBA head, the subtank mini Kangertech. About the nic, you add it after mix all PG VG and flavor? I mean you taste them first then you put the nic? Sorry still on quite long journey for this DIY. Really need some guidance.

Also, I read post said that BOTTOM COIL TANK produce more flavour than TOP COIL TANK. Is it true? Im aware that dripper tend to be flavourful than tank, no doubt but on my tank there is literally no sweets at all, just a pail taste of fruit (lets say if mix with honeydew).

Here's on of my recipe before i post on this awesome forum :

7% Peach juicy TPA
3% Pomegranate TPA
3% Honeydew TPA
4% Cooling Agent
3% sucralose
1% EM
1% CA

Extra question regarding the additive :
1. Is additive consider to be mix with PG VG Flavour and Nic or just add after mix the liquid?
2. Additive mixed mostly by drops or by percentages?
3. Is additives includes as Flavour? Because some recipe they put additive along FLAVOUR PERCENTAGE, so its bit confusing.
4. Whats the trick of the vendor to make their product tend to be very sweet, do they overuse flavour or additives?

Thank you.

tanks and drippers rarely produce the same flavor, dripping typically has a lot better flavor

resistance and watts also plays a part in flavor
Thanks for the reply. Im aware of that, but in my country they prefer tanks rather than RDA. I read a few on flavor chasing section and will try some of the built there. Thanks for the great info!
