Help with Batteries

My current setup is an eleaf 100w which has a pair of married batteries (VTC4) that I charge with a dual slot charger. I plan on buying the wismec reuleaux RX2/3 and since my VTC4's are a year old I was thinking I should buy new batteries with the mod.

Since I only have a 2 slot charger and do not wish to buy a 3/4 slot charger yet (budget), would it be ok to marry 3 batteries through usb charging?

If I want to switch between using 3 or 2 batteries, Do I need to buy 5 in total so that I can marry 2 together and the other 3 together or..?

They become married by using them in the same device. I do not recommend usb charging, charge two and then the single in your 2 bay charger. The three you have will be fine using 2 or 3, as long as they are married.

Ok thank you I guess I was mistaken but I read somewhere that marrying happens when the same batteries go through the same charge/discharge cycle reguardless of the device

Married pairs are in fact 2 or more batteries that are cycled together (charged and discharged). Usually with the same device.
Professionally speaking they should be cycled with the same device.
I have swapped married sets from one device to a in the past; however it's not something I would recommend done on a regular basis or often.

since you only have a 2 slot charger I'd recommend sticking with that or buying a different charger. your set of 2 and set of 3 should be separate married batteries if you want to go that route. VTC4 are good batteries but since they are a year old might be time to get some new ones. personally i'd go with the VTC5a batts. they are better in every way for your regulated mod. or if you don't vape over 130 watts some samsung 30q batts for better battery life
I wouldn't charge in the mod. the 2/3 doesn't even do balanced charging.

any reason you want that mod in particular? I don't really recommend it. if you want to see why check out the review from DJLsb on youtube. If you want to get a dual batt only mod , I'd recommend something like an alien or battlestar. If you want a 2 or 3 battery option a smok G320 is nice. 220 watts with 2 batts or 320 watts with 3 batts and IMO an overall better mod then the RX I know @Paratech has a few triple battery mods as well. maybe he can chime in for recommendations.

It is highly advised to get an external charger, many reasonably priced 4 bay chargers out there.

It is possible to switch between 2 and 3 setup with the same 3 batteries, as long as you cycle between them and use a different pair each time.

Number them 1,2,3 with a marker and then use them in order 1+2, 1+3, 2+3

Nothing really.
Just don't use keep a pair of batteries for two batteries mode and a set for three batt mode.

There were issues with its balance charge board. I'm unsure if they remedied that. BUT, keeping the USB port for upgrades only is smart business. That way you won't run the risk of damaging the port, and you ensure a good charge.

The wismec boards are excellent! I have 5 different mods that use that board in rotation with several dna mods. Not to mention, there is a reason that rx200 was one of the most popular mods of 2016....

Yes, I would.
In my opinion it's extremely comfortable in 2 batt mode.
Also, for my vape style it's about perfect. But, I rarely vape over 100w.

that's surprising. not sure where you are ordering but i got my battlestars from gearbest for under 40 bucks each. the smok alien will probably run about 50. the RX2/3 should be around 40-50 as well so all in the same price range give or take 10 bucks.
as far as the rx2/3 goes, short version is bad 510 pin, thin internal wiring, and the battery sled switching has thin wire that can break off easily making it useless unless you can solder it back on yourself.

Ok cool thanks, thats good because I usually vape anywhere from 50-90w. The eleaf that Im running now is capable of that but Ive had it for a few months now and the hit just isnt the same as my previous higher quality mod which broke and thats why Im trying to get the 2/3

Considering that I only use under 100w would the 3rd battery not even be beneficial other than giving more battery life?

I've honestly never had shipping issues but it does happen occasionally. right now is bad though cause it's Chinese new year so they won't ship anything ordered until after feb 3rd. Do you guys have any actual vape sites? amazon and ebay kinda suck for vape gear to be honest.

Personally I wouldn't go with the RX2/3.

The vast majority of people use either 2 or 3 batteries and don't jump back and forth.
If you go with 2 you'd be better off with something like the alien.
If 3 I would prefer the RX200/200S

I concur with everything you said.
DO NOT CHARGE triple 18650s in a mod, ANY mod.
Always externally charge.
Use a married pair for your duals
Use a married triple for the mods that require three.
Don't mix those.
( nightshard s theory will work in a pinch, I just never recommend it to keep things simple )
If you absolutely MUST have a triple 18650 mod, get the Sense blazer or even a Primus Koopor.
You could look at a quad - Ijoy MAXO.
I didn't see if you mentioned WHY you wanted to get a mod that requires more than two batteries.
I'll recommend the Smok Alien or Smoant Battlestar.
Other dual 18650 options:
Smok X Cube Ultra
Smok H-Priv
Hohm Tech Hohm Wrecker G2
If you're not in a hurry: Smok GX350 or Ijoy EXO 360
