I need help my husband came home with a crown tank and put it on the istick tc 40w mod. The tank got hot it has the .50coil in it and set a 22 watts only. He was told the tank would work on his istick 40w. I use my new coolfire 40w with the kanger subtank mini with a 1.2 coil at 12 watts and have no problems. I do not know if the set up with the crown on the istick 40 watt is safe. I never use anything subohms. But need help is it safe to use that crown tank with coils he is using could it be getting hot hot hot due to chain vaping. Help i want him to be safe. I never go under 1.2 ohms due to me vaping all the time ..thanks

It will get hot if you chain vape.

The coil heads in the Crown tank are massive compared to most. They DO get hot. Since the coils sit so close to the edges you notice the heat a lot more than you would on a Kanger Sub tank. As yamooo said, if he chain vapes it will get hot. I use pretty much nothing but my crown tanks. Though I do prefer the .25 ohm coils and run them between 35 and 50 watts depending on my juice.

The Crown tank uses stainless steel coils. SS heats up quite a bit faster than kanthal. Also, the istick 40 doesn't have real DC step down. It uses pulse-width modulation. It works ok with kanthal, but since stainless steel heats up so fast it can heat up the coil hotter, faster, than normal kanthal coils.

The first thing to do is drop the watts. The istick will fire the Crown heads a little hotter because of the stainless steel and PWM. Next up would be to use a wide bore heat resistant drip tip made out of plastic, delrin, POM or teflon. That should really help keep the tip from getting as hot.

If your husband knows how to build coils he can always order the Crown RBA deck. You have to build the coils yourself but it works very well. I'm vaping on it right now and it's much cooler than the stock coil heads. You can build the RBA to give a hot vape. a cooler vape, or for temp control. If your husband does not build his own coils, then I definitely recommend he lower the watts below 20.

I have a 0.94 ohm clapton coil on my Crown set to 17 watts. With a plastic (POM) drip tip it's quite nice. I'm not using an istick though.
