So I know all the methods to cleaning them but I'm wondering what a more experienced person suggests for painted RDAs. My mut v4 is chipping from overall use and I'm wondering if any of you have any tips to prevent this on future PAINTED RDAs. I know they aren't common around here and I don't plan to get many of them it would just be nice if the few I have didn't look like trash compared to my SS ones.

not to be crass, Don't buy painted atty's. Get ones that are powder coated or vapor deposition coated.

I only have one, the rest are all going to be SS mostly. Or black metal. I don't care for painted ones.

I won't buy any mods/rdas/rtas that aren't some sort of metal. All of mine are either ss, copper or brass.

If you like having a tarnished or patina look you can just leave em and clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol.

If you want em shinnin', get some mothers polish from just about anywhere and go from tarnished to a mirror shine in literally seconds.

Any paint will be prone to chipping especially if the surface wasn't prepped properly. The only suggestions IMO are to be more careful with it, buy things that are anodized, powder coated, or ones that have no paint at all...

Yeah, the paint is going to chip off eventually. It's inevitable. I mean, if you wanted to, you could block off the airflows and clear-coat it. You just have to be very careful not to get any on the inside. Wouldn't recommend it. Not sure how well it would take or how good it would look.

I wet-sanded my painted atties with something like 150c sandpaper, followed up with 320p, and then finally buffed it with 0000 steel wool. With some deliberate strokes of the sandpaper and a little polish, you can have a shiny, smooth brushed finish. Just something to consider when the paint starts really chipping.

My juice was what killed the paint, leaking so now all around the airflow is gone. I'm not really caring since I just bought the black one, not one with designs.
