There are some mild spoilers for Jurassic World within.

45 years to the day after the first men set foot on the moon, I walked onto NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In the early 1960s, Michoud facilitated the early stages of the Saturn class of rocket boosters, which would eventually be used as the launch system for the Apollo moon missions. With the end of the Apollo program in the early 1970s, and up until 2010, Michoud maneuvered to constructing the external fuel tanks used for the space shuttles.

Populating the property are gigantic warehouses, one after another, tall enough to house the giant fuel tanks, some of which now litter the ground, out of commission with grass growing around them. In addition to housing some other United States government operations, NASA has leased a portion of the property out to Hollywood moviemakers to help offset the cost of unused space.
