Atlus and Vanillaware are teaming up to release an HD remake of Odin Sphere for the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.
Odin Sphere originally came out for the PS2 in 2007. It's newly announced HD counterpart is dubbed Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir. Odin Sphere: Leiftrasir will not only feature high-definition visuals, but also new enemies, bosses, battle actions, animations, and maps.
Enhancements have also been made to the combat system, and new features have been added to make the overall gameplay smoother and faster. 2D scrolling gameplay has been removed from the HD version, but for old-school fans of the original gameplay, there is a "Classic Mode" available.
Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir will release in Japan on January 14, 2016. There is no word yet for an international release. While we wait in anticipation, read IGN's review of the original Odin Sphere, where it was hailed as "one of the best RPGs to come out on the PS2."
