If you've ever wondered how the classic 1966 Batman TV series might have depicted Bane if the character actually existed back then, DC's Batman '66 comic has your answer. This week Batman '66 #27 gave Bane a campy, luchador-inspired makeover and pitted him against Adam West's Batman.
In the Batman '66 universe, Bane is a feared luchador wrestler with seemingly superhuman strength. This issue adapted various pieces of Bane's history for his first clash with the Dynamic Duo. Instead of consuming the super-steroid Venom, this version of Bane melts down a series of rare, green crystal skulls that give him a temporary strength boost when ingested. Bane's henchmen Bird, Trogg and Zombie were also given cameos as members of his masked wrestling entourage. Even Bane's distinctive mask from The Dark Knight Rises made a brief appearance.
