Hi,

I'm a heavy smoker looking to quit and jump on vape.. I smoke 3 packs a day (Parliment) and I really want to stop smoking.. but I need the nicotine..

I've seen some vaper's that I like.. but not sure what brand it is.. it has a clear top with liquid inside.. and it looks like a metal shaft?

Also, which liquids are safe? but has nicotine.. and is organic? Little flavor would be nice...

Pease point me to the right direction... I have made up my mind to quit.. and I really want to get on it before I give up again..

Last year a friend of mine bought me a e-cig... but it didn't last 2 days.. its looked like a cig... and not much vape came out...and the nicotine was not even enough..(it didn't feel like I was smoking or getting the nicotine)

Might want to check out your local vape shop and see what they have. Im sure they can get you started. Not sure what brand of vaporizer you were looking at, but if you did a google search of cigalikes, you might find it. Also try a google search of organic e juice, you will see a bunch of different options. Takes a little time and research, but if it helps you stop smoking, it will be worth the effort. Good Luck!

The iJust2 kit is good but be advised that it puts out huge clouds of vapor and some smokers cannot handle that at first.

You will get used to a lot of vapor in a week or so, just use lower watts to start with to reduce vapor production... whatever makes you conformable vaping.

Lots of vapor = lots of nicotine so if your getting a subohm type of tank, dont start with a high nic juice like you think you need (like 24mg) or you will be turning green and getting a nic overdose within a minute or two of vaping.

There are a million and one different juices on the market, the juice you like is sooooo up to you. It's such a personal preference thing its hard to say which one will be right for you. Just about every juice out there will be safe, just do some reading here at VU and of course google searches and you are going to have to try many different juices to find what you like. Tobaccos? Fruits? Desserts?
I tried an organic, extract type juice and it was meh, just ok. And how do you get an organic juice while using PG? Guess you cant and you get a VG, flavor extract and some water to thin it out juice. Those max VG juices usually dont work well in tanks and are made for dripping in a RDA.
Nothing wrong with the regular juices, keep it simple to start with. The worst thing to have happen is spend a bunch of $$ on vape stuff and have it not work well when combined together and then you go buy a pack of Parliaments lol

Good luck on quitting!

Yeah..I've seen the youtube vids.. but those guys inhale deep..like they smoke weed.. I don't really inhale that much that deep.. so I think I might be okay..

Thank you for the heads up on that !

Haha yeah.. yesterday I was going to get everything.. but after some advice.. i think I'll just get like a starter.. but this time i will quit smoking for sure!
What nicotine level you think would be good to start? I have try the nicotine gum before.. and the 4mg almost made me vomit...and dizzy.. 2mg on the nicotine gum was perfect for me.. should I go with 2mg juice of nicotine?

It depends on the device you get.
If you get a starter kit thing like a ego pen and an old scool clearomizer like a ce4 or protank (u may need to google those) you can start with 18mg to 24mg nic juice.
If you get one of the newer style devices with higher power to run a subohm tank like a kanger subtank or tobeco super tank... list goes on... I would start with 12mg at the most. You may end up mixing a 6mg & 12mg to get a 9mg. Maybe 8 or 9 is available? Haven't looked for that in foever so I'm not sure.

The ijust 2 is a good kit, I have one and use it regularly. I noticed tho and maybe it was just my coil but the coil head that comes with the tank didn't seem to handle the full battery power very well. The nice thing about that tank is you can use quite a few different coils with it because it uses the Atlantis coil head design. Most vape shops should have Atlantis coils at varying resistances so finding heads for those is not a problem. My other tank I have every time I've been to a shop they've never seen one lol, it's an innokin isub.

Whatever you do, don't give up.

Everyone has given great suggestions. I don't have much to add. Other than to say, vaping is not a one size fits all deal. At least, not anymore.

Try to find a shop that will let you sample juices. Otherwise you may quickly become discouraged because of the cost and waste incurred.

A good initial setup and juice, will save you $100's in frustration. Look and ask questions. You don't need $300 worth of mod and tanks to get started. But you certainly don't need a $10 setup.

It also may come as a shock to you. The first couple of months, you may spend as much as you have on cigarettes. At least until you get things sorted out.

@joshua IIes @ puffpuffpass Thank you for the comments..

*Update*

I went to the shop today..but didnt get anything... they had a show at NOPI.. and took all the stuff for the show.. but he actually was telling me the same thing.. that the ones that I want didn't have a control thing.. and they were actually getting rid of all the one that looked like a shaft...

So I am changing my mind... I guess I'll get the one that looks like the cig box type.. but which one should I get? I want something under $100... and with a tank... and with something that is easy to find parts..(like coil? cotton.. )

I vape his vaper at the shop.. he told me it was a 50w.. but was running it at 40w.. but I didnt like the design of it... and plus, he told me he had to charge his battery every 3 hours... I would like some thing compact and good battery life..

Can you guys pick one or two out? I think I might have to order it online.. so any good shops you guys recommend?

Take your time, don't rush. Another day, or week to read reviews, complaints, etc. will go a long way in helping you choose.

For ease of use, I recommend a box like the "itaste MVP" series. Or something similar. Primarily because there's not battery to switch out. Everything is internal, and it uses USB charging.

Most people see a full day or more use from a single charge, I don't. But, it can be used as a "pass thru" Meaning you can use it while it's charging.

The tank? I use a Kanger Pro. Because it holds a huge amount (7.5ml) of juice. Again, that is personal preference. Maybe someone can recommend a top load tank. Because the Kanger can be a bit messy when you're just starting. You can get coils at almost any Vape shop.

Just for the record. You DO NOT have to use high wattage. But you will need to spend some time, figuring out what wattage is best for you. The "I taste" is very adjustable, as are most Mods these days.

I too was a 3 pack a day smoker, and constant "hot box" smoker. And my setup has been very satisfying for me.

Best of luck to you.

Yeah, like 2 puff said, take some time and check the options out and do some reading in the link whiskey gave you.

There are ones that have an internal battery that you charge with a cord and some that have removable 18650 batteries. The later ones need a 18650 battery charger along with the mod purchase. Pros and cons to both styles.

I am picking one of these up for my wife since shes not a high power vaper and doesn't need a 100w+ mod and she likes mouth the lung vaping, like taking a drag on a smoke. Not the straight to lung style you saw in the video. The tank that comes with it is said to have a little tighter draw than the super airy subohm tanks that are popular right now.
http://sweet-vapes.com/eleaf-istick-40-watt-full-kit.html

You can obviously put any other tank on it later on as well, but for the price I think this would be a great starter. This has the built in battery so you don't have to buy batteries and a charger on top of it.

Many of the atomizers people recommend these days are designed to work best for direct lung inhales (smoking weed style) and don't work real well for mouth to lung inhales (smoking a cigarette style). Make sure you get an atomizer that performs well with your style of use.

A lot of good suggestions, just wanted to throw another one out there. this is the kanger subbox kit, in my opinion its one of the best starter kits for someone looking to come off cigarettes. it literally has everything you need other than a battery and juice- from the same shop you can get a good battery for 9$. you can window shop for juice, but that js such a personal opinion, that would be like me telling you the best subway sammich.

The kanger subkit comes with an atomizer for mouth to lung inhale and another for direct lung inhale. The 1.5ohm coil will help you make the initial switch and the 0.5 ohm coil will give you that 'massive cloud ' The mod in the kit uses a changeable 18650 battery (link below) but can charge in the mod. When the battery stops taking a charge for 8-10 dollars you can get a new battery. Or you can get a pair of batteries and a charger for 20$ and keep a backup battery.

Subbox kit

Battery
http://www.myvaporstore.com/Samsung-INR18650-25R-2500mAh-Battery-Flat-Top-p/jssinr25r.htm

Additionally, it comes with one of each coil, your local shop will carry replacement coils after you see which one you like more. Should you decide to go down the road of hobbyist vapor that kit also includes a premade coil deck for people interested in building coils, -my suggestion is to leave that alone for a while, use the premade coils until you are set.

And congrats on taking the step to a healthier lifestyle. Just don't be nervous to try alot of things along the way.

vaping is like sex just jump in and get real dirty....take the adivse given, and realize that you are going to change your whole set up ande juice constanly for awhile until you find a vape that works for you once you have you'll change again....give yourself a break and time to change and customize your vape...most of all let yourself experiment, you don't have to vape like the herd vapes....

I would find something with temp control and I think the one you are talking about is TC. Hard to tell without a link though because I think there's a new istick 60 coming out with TC and an old one without.

It's not mandatory, non TC mods will work well also but you can use a TC mod with or without temp control and for the price of the TC mods now there's no reason not to buy one with TC.

If you are anything like me, if I bought a regular watt mod and after a few months of vaping started to hear about the benefits of TC... I would be kicking myself in the ass for not getting it to start off with

I am also impatient and when I want it, I want it now but know that you will probably be paying twice the online prices at a vape shop.

Almost immediate. :)

Wheezing stopped within 48 hours. Shortness of breath isn't a problem any more. Everything is improving. Including circulatory issues. I no longer need to take Cialis ;)

My quality of life has greatly improved.

Next year, my job will require me to take a lung function test. That will tell me more.

MY big concern with eleaf is they have an track record of spontaneous combustion.
Its a mixed bag, im 99% sure some are user error(leaving them plugged in to long or misuse) but all of their lipo mods, as this is, has had a few reported cases of a meltdown. The 60w is a new offering, so, maybe kick back and see if that one has the same issue.
did you look at the evic mini tc?

I second that. If I was to start over again vaping, it would be the subtank mini kit. I don't own one, but have steered 9 of my friends to them, (when I go to my vape shop with someone new, the counter guys just ask black or white?) They are available in purple now too I think.
I don't think you could go wrong with that starter kit!

Same here, for the price, vape and build quality, and all the options that are included(coils with multiple Rt, RBA head) , one can go from beginner vapor to advanced without needing anything else. its really the best starter kit out there imho. Ive also gotten several smokers into vaping with that kit.
Kanger really knocked it out of the park with that kit.

not me...... I loved my whole vaping adventure from the cheap ass clearomizer, to the boge cartos,to the 357 from cisco,to the aga-t, and igo-l to the all levels of gennys, and drippers to kayfuns and all manner of clones... I've owned..from silica to cotton to mesh to ceramic, xc-116 raime, hemp, rayon and back to mesh and hopefully back to ceramic...wasted money and wasted hours and wasted juice...it been a blast and I've learned something from each wrong turn in the road...at this point I think I coud design and build my own atty and mod....what an absolute mind numbing fucking bore it would have been if I had started out with fucking cheap ass sub-ohm tank.plus they're ugly ass shit, and a pedestrain vape at best.

Bahaha!!!! I rarely use the subohm tank but do own them and its great for those hectic days, travel, and some outings. it also would have made making the switch from smoking much easier; because, the flavor is so much better than the ego style tanks.
That's why I say they are great for beginners, especially those unsure if they want to build. As to the journey, I coild have done without some things I bought, like the ruzgar, what piece of trash that was.

All before my time, thank baby Jesus apparently. Lol
I did order 50 bucks worth of Mt baker when I bought my first 'real' mod, to try and save money; because, it was so expensive. That was a good mistake. The stuff was so vile, that it pushed me to start DIYing,

Sorry guys... kinda got super busy this week... didn't have time to log on the forums..

And thank you for all the advice and tips guys..

Here is what I bought online..

1. Eleaf istick 60w
2. Eleaf Ijust 2 starter kit. ( I had to get something for my wife... and kinda wanted to try it out..since it was cheap..)
3. samsung icr 18650-30b 3.7V 3000mAh battery.
4. herakles sense sub-OHM bvc tank. (this is for the istick 60w)

What do you think ?

The I just 2 kit is great, I use the tank way more than the battery, mostly because right now I'm using .6 herakles coils in it and that battery won't push those to the power they need. Love that tank for the coil options, just hate that its sometimes a pita to open.

Its a great starter set up! I'm jealous, it makes what I started with look like poopoo.
the only thing I question is the battery, I cant find any information on an icr,30b from Samsung
Whats the amp rating of the battery?

I think liionwholesale may have those, if I'm not mistaken its a lower amp battery. personally I'll take a little lower mah with higher amps on a battery just to be safe. All I'm using are 25r and he2 right now, also have a set of vtc3 I got fairly cheap, don't last nearly as long but they don't get warm like my others can if I push a little higher wattage at them.

Should do it. You don't need more to start.. I just recently upgraded to a higher outpuy mod, but 40 is more than enough to start with. Most of my attys I don't run over 25-28 watts.

I just did...(online) I think I want to get the ijust 2 kit..
I was a 2 pack a day, Parliament smoker for over 30 years and decided one day to quit. I actually ran out of cigs but was too lazy to go to the store, so the next day, I went to the gas station and bought a Logic Pro with a few refills and that's how I started. The Logic Pro is a cig alike product. Looks like and feels like a cigarette. I was satisfied for a few weeks but then wanted to expand my vaping experience by going to all the Vape shops I could find. You will be thrilled once you get into it! I'm 4 months ciggy free and LOVE everything about vaping! Great luck to you!
By the way, I have the IJust 2 and love it, but you also will end up getting a mechanical mod too. Keep us posted!

All before my time, thank baby Jesus apparently. Lol
I did order 50 bucks worth of Mt baker when I bought my first 'real' mod, to try and save money; because, it was so expensive. That was a good mistake. The stuff was so vile, that it pushed me to start DIYing,
And here I hit the Mt. Baker for like 6 months before the wife rebelled and started buying shop bottles, which is what pushed me into DIY...

I think you'll do great - I started with those Sharpie pen-sized devices (called eGo batteries) and simple tanks with throwaway coils (actually I started way before that, but that's what got me and the wife to quit smoking). You're way ahead of the game, as long as you get some good liquid you should be fine...don't worry if you don't quit smoking right away, it took me 3 weeks to taper down to nothing, and others it took a lot longer. Count the ones you don't smoke, not the ones you do. And please keep coming back to report progress or ask questions along the way. Good luck with the quit!

Indeed, excellent starter kit. If it hasn't been mentioned, will the herkales take temp control coils? It'd be almost a waste to not use temp control on that thing. I have the eVic Mini (pretty much the same mod/features/price range), as well as the istick 40w TC, and temp control is awesome. Never a dry or burnt hit... take huge hits all day to kill that three pack habit :).

In addition, your battery is fine. 18650s are where it's at, and Samsung is a great choice (as I type this on my Samsung computer, with my Samsung Phone charging next to me, and my Samsung TV and blu-ray player.
