HIC's Pear-Apple Frangipane recipe: fruit almond torte for pear fans; very tasty crust flavor here!

1.5% FlavourArt Pear
1% FlavourArt Apple Pie
1% FlavourArt Almond
0.5% FlavourArt Cookie
0.5% FlavourArt Apricot
0.5% FlavourArt Catalan Cream (can use Vienna Cream plus extra Cinnamon, but Catalan's better here)
0.5% FlavourArt Brandy
0.5% FlavourArt Cinnamon Ceylon

TFA's Quince would be interesting to try in place of Pear, if you aren't in the mood for pear.

Some people prefer this fresh; others like it creamier after it sits a day or two. I suggest trying some right away and trying to leave some leftovers for later.

I made this a few months ago using Inawera pear, which was the only pear I had - it was overpoweringly sickly pear flavored. I just made it again using FA pear - and WOW.....what a fabulous vape!

Hah... I like Inawera Pear as a solo vape, but I 've never been tempted to try mixing it with anything - it would be very hard to work with, I think.

When I first made this one, I only had FA Nut Mix, no boozy flavors and used Inawera Pear, it was the only one I had. The INW Pear didn't work for me, either. I still make this with Nut Mix, no boozy flavor and had to cut the Pear completely, since I still don't have FA.

I made this in a 30ml the 2nd time I made it. I love his recipe, even without the Pear. This happens to be the only recipe I can tolerate Catalan Cream in. Me and Catalan...... we don't always get along so well.

Huck, you can use other fruit flavors you do have. Whatever fruit flavors you'd like in a fruit tart or danish would work - Cherry (regular, not black), Fig, Peach, extra Apricot, Apple or Fuji... I really think TFA's Quince would be an excellent, too.

Quince, to me, is pear plus apple, but lighter. TFA's tasted right to me. I don't remember why I got it or any recipe I've used it in, so I must not have found it awesome. I should dig it out and try with VT nic!

It is NOT a cinnamon-apple American pie. You're the first person I've ever seen that wants it that way!

I have to admit this recipe frustrates me.

First time I made it (back when HIC posted it on ECF), it tasted so much like the picture it was uncanny... and delicious. The 8ml I made didn't last long at all!

I haven't managed to get the same taste since

Back then I made about 4ml of flavouring mix, but (IIRC) it just tasted fuggy when made up, none of the fresh taste that my first batch had. So I tried replicating the 8ml mix I first made, and that didn't work either. I started to think that one of my flavours had gone 'bad' in some way. Still not sure about that, because I just got fresh of all the ingredients - closer, but still not the same magic. An extra drop of Pear helped. And the Apricot seems too strong (compared to my memory of the good batch). But the rest are such low quantites that adding extra drops (in 10ml) is far too coarse to play with - add one drop more of cinnamon, and it's all cinnamon, lol.

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!! I do so wish I had enough time and patience to get this right!

The second try, with the flavouring mix, was exactly the same bases etc. I had switched PG and VG before the last try (which was before getting the fresh flavourings), so this time I used the old stuff to be sure. This try is the closest yet - still gonna vape it! And then try again

I have all but Almond, I may try it out with marzipan since it is the only almond thing I have, though it may make it a bit sweeter. I do have walnut though.....

I'd pick Marzipan over Walnut, for sure. In fact, that might be even better than the Almond in the recipe. Real frangipane does include some marzipan, at least in the crust.

I think I would, but you can always make it 0.5% and add more if it's not enough. It's a strong flavoring, but 1% is not going overboard. YUM! I'm gonna have to put your version on my to-do list; I really think I'll like it better with Marzipan.

This was the first mix that was more than a couple flavors that showed me how GOOD DIY can be.

If you mean rtsvapes.com, they sell 3 different brands of brandy. It should say FA, TFA, or LA somewhere on the label. The only one of those I use is FA (FlavourArt), and I don't know how those others compare.
