After the Fuchai 213 fell off the Harley and got run over by a semi, i needed a new mod last week. Wasn't really happy with the Fuchai, not only the false specs but the TC wouldn't work consistently. I had heard about the G2 but the ergonomics just wasn't there for someone that rides 80 miles + a day and the mod sits between my legs. Then saw the slice for $60 and no one in town had any IPV 6 since they had all been sent back for the recall. At the end of the day, how much can really be expected out of a sub $100 mod? I'm a mechanic, all my mods die to the oil, brake cleaner, dropping them onto concrete anyways, so I consider them all disposable anyways.
I got it Saturday, and spent all week tinkering. All my coil building stuff was locked up in the shop till Monday, so I used my griffin 25 with dual 3mm ID fused kanthal claptons and attempted to temp control: didn't go so well. So I watched every video out out by Hohmtech, and even sat through like 2 excruciating hours of pbusardo videos....
I'm an ASE Master Tech, 90% of what I have to fix on modern automobiles is electronics. I've spent 25 years in independent shops, which means I have to diagnose and repair every make and model made in the last 50 years, so I'm rather fluent in "figuring it out". I've been vaping 7 years, and the original budget of $100 a week I had for cigs, I use on vape gear. All that amounted to nothing while sitting for hours adjusting FSK. I could get it to fire, no problem, but it would climb quickly to the max wattage. So I would turn the FSK down, then it would not fire. So I would turn the temp up, then it would fire and climb again to max wattage I had set. So I would pull the atty off, reset the ohms and try again. So the back and forth game of adjusting FSK, then adjusting temp, then adjusting wattage... Really annoying as ultimately I just ended up setting the wattage to 40 watts, and that's what was really limiting coil temp, not the temperature setting. Either the coil would not fire at all at a given FSK setting, or it would fire and climb to max wattage. So I downloaded the newest update, no change.
This is not my first mod to do kanthal temp control, my Ijoy Asolo did it as well. The Asolo didn't really temp control, but it did stop dry hits when your really doing a hard pull on an RDA. After just a few minutes for the Asolo chip to "learn" the atty, it would definitely stop you from a dry hit, it just did not keep the temperature constant for a perfect, exact duplicate vape, every time you took a drag.
So today I get to the shop and wrap up a couple of 430ss duals for the Griffin: fuking flawless. Best temp control mod I've ever used. Super fast ramp up time, and the vape is the exact same every time I hit it. Form factor works great for the long commutes on the Harley. That guy from Hohmtech is really trying to listen to the vape community, and build a bad ass mod. Vaping mouth to lung, on 18mg/ml + nic is one thing, Doubling the wattage so you can vape the same thing at 80 mph with no windshield on a Harley when it's freezing outside is another. I've got to be able to change temps all day long depending on conditions. Then I need to be able to drop it, freeze it, cook it over 100 degrees in a hot shop or leave it on an engine that is 200 degrees +. I destroy mods, and I'm quit happy with this one weather kanthal temp control only works good on subtanks or not. I'm not paying $3+ for a coil head, same reason I DIY my own juice. It's a good lil mod!

. I also showed another friend how you can press and hold the fire button and the tank will fire then stop until you take a drag, he was impressed since it was a kanthal coil.
