Unscrew your tank and hit the fire button to reset the resistance. Then screw the tank back on and see if that helps. If so, make sure to hit the fire button before screwing on a new tank.
Do what Wings said. Hit the fire button till it says check atomizer. Screw the atty on and vape. Every time you switch attys you have to reset the resistance by doing this. It's the way the mod was designed. The board is not like a DNA or most boards now that do an automatic read on the resistance. You have to manually reset every time.
Check and see if your 510 on the mod is depressed enough where the insulator isnt stopping a short, this is also a possibility. Just push it down with a Qtip and see if it jumps back up.
I only lock it when switching attys. I clear it like wings but lock it and fire once or twice, take it off and vape unlocked on kanthal.

take apart the Kennedy completely, clean it, reassemble, put in a new build and try it out
Mine was the opposite TBH. the longer smok tank 510 pins worked great, the shorter RDA 510 pins didn't.
