Im tossing around the idea of building my own unregulated box mod. However, Id like to keep everything as simple as possible. This said, 30amp switches are large and kinda expensive, and im not trying to install a mosfet.

My question is, is there any info out there about making homemade switch? I will be using a thick solid copper wire for my connections(8-10ga), so why couldnt I capture it in such a way that it makes contact with itself, thus connecting the circuit, via either magnetic or spring tension?

I believe if this is done correctly, it would be much more robust than 90% of china made switches out there, for a fraction of the price. Im just looking for ideas, from someone who has done it before.

Installing a MOSFET is easy, the beauty of the MOSFET is it uses a very small electrical current to control a HUGE amount of current

Otherwise, you could just build a physical push button, two contacts coming together like a mechanical mod's firing button...
