Horror Movie Franchises That Never Got Bad

Sequels don't necessarily have to be bad, but a lot of them are, and it's always frustrating to fall in love with a movie and discover that many (if not all) of the follow-ups are major disappointments. It's a phenomenon that happens all the time, especially in the world of horror movies, where there are tons of genuine horror classics that spawned long-running franchises that quickly sank into mediocrity, and then into junk.

Even some of the most popular horror movie franchises, like Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street, are frustratingly spotty. Some of the sequels/remakes are good, some of them are painful, so watching them all together isn't necessarily a good idea. It's hard to make a great horror movie, but to make a series of consistently good horror movies - or even just consistently entertaining ones - is an accomplishment worth celebrating too.
