Hot button! Please help!

Guys, im getting a hot button on my Wismec Skyladon. My battery is warm, not hot or worse, I only vape 6-7 times then done as on dripper.

I normally dont vape for another hour or so.

Is there anyway past this? My local store say the button gets hot due to the lower ohms, amd alot of people with mechs say the same but its nothing to worry about....I however care about my face.

The button and it's housing probably need to be disassembled and polished. If it is getting black where the button makes contact with the housing, that's it.

it is something to worry about... hot button will heat your cell faster than anything and is a sign of a failure in voltage distribution and thr conductivity of your device.
if your button is getting hot it is taking away from the voltage that hits your coils, making it hit lighter than it should.
most likely its dirty threads... i find thats the #1 cause of hit button. buff the shit out of them, hit em with some 3 in 1 oil if possible, thats a godsend to mech mod threads.
not familiar with the skyladon, but check for collapsed spring also. shit springs will cause hot buttons also.
only time i get a hit button and the low build is to blame is when the voltage on the cell is low and a quick cell change fixes it.
if none of that shit works then get yourself a better mech, better cells and if all else fails then build higher i guess.

Its a magnetic button, so u push the negative poles together and the button goes through a hole to the negative point of the battery to create the curcuit.

Its a gold button on a stainless steel tube.

When you say polished? What do u mean?

It's called joule heating. The current is heating up the switch rather than the coils. ultra clean contacts and a good build in the RDA will solve it. Make sure your switch is clean and tight.

If I put a pic up of the parts, u can see and tell me what threads need cleaning. The only thread I see is what secures the button in place. What do I clean the button with for super clean contact?

Yeah, the threads have some blackening but you need to take that button apart and you'll probably see that you need to polish the sides where it makes contact.

Edit. That was a pic of the top.
Take the bottom button appart. You may need to do top and bottom but most likely the bottom.

Use whatever metal polish you have, aluminum, brass whatever.

Most likely hold the part the touches the bottom of the battery with your finger while unscrewing the button that you would push to fire.

That was the bottom. I held it upside down. So basically dremel Polish and buff the lot?

you can clean threads with water and a little tooth paste and lightly brush all that black shit out with a tooth brush...
then dry and hit it with 3 n 1 oil.

thats the name of this lubricant you can get in most hardware stores, gas stations, supermarkets.... it keeps the threads silky smooth and helps prevent future buildup.

Not grease unless its dialectric because that will limit current flow and add even worse resistance.

Got it. Either way... whatever the bottom button is, take it apart and polish it. No grease or oil needed there, just get the buildup from arcing off.
Top button may need the same.

OK so Polish button, clean and oil threads.....

Now what about the battery? If u look above there is abit of sh!t on the bottom of it on the negative terminal

What's on the battery probably isn't an issue but you can try to give that a polish as well.

Main thing is get all parts of that button to shine like it's brand new... or shinyer than new.
Guess that goes for the top too. I used a hybrid top so there wasn't anything between the atty and the battery but that can be dangerous with the wrong atty.

Mech maintenance is one of the reasons I changed to regulated a while ago. Got tired of cleaning often to keep in top performance condition.
Once regulated mods started to have the power to run subohm, it was game on.
Before that you had to use mech to get a powerful vape.

I used to polish my magnetic buttons weekly. Keep it in tip top condition and more of your battery energy will get to the coil instead of heating up the button assembly.

A yihi 350j chip in a 2 cell diy enclosure and a Wisemec rx200 3 cell mod for those really long days away from home. I'm all about temp control so I can control how fast the coil heats up and what temp it wil plateau at.

But there are a million good choices available now from $30 to $200.
