How do I know if my coil is safe?

Now that ordered my Ammit RTA and the CoilMaster V3 DIY Kit, I need to research and learn up on the different type of wires, I will start with 26g and learn from there.

What omh should I be shooting for when building my coils to use on my SMOK AL85? I know to look for my coil to burn from the inside out, BUT, can my coil still be "off" somehow even if it does burn evenly?

What do I look for on my Tab Mini OHM readout to understand if my coil is withing safe operating specs to use on my AL85 mini alien?

My CoilMaster kit comes with Kanthal A1 Wire Spool - 24 GA

I plan on using 26 gauge after i use up the included wire. a little research just now and i realize that 24 may be too thick, no? Maybe i need to increase my wattage from my normal 35 to maybe 50 or 60 watts to make up the difference?

Ok, if you looked at steam engine, change the coil diameter to 24ga, and go from there. You can change the coil size diameter, etc...and everything changes for you, you'll see the ohms at the bottom left...You may want to try a .5 or higher coil to begin with, they work nicely on any atty...if you want a hotter vape, lower the numbers to suit your needs.

Steam engine has all the tools in that app, just play with it. After you make your coil, put it on the ohm meter to check the resistance, if it's good, dry fire the atty without a wick to work the hot spots out....after the coil glows from the inside out its ready for wicking.

This may seem really difficult, but after you do it a few times, you'll catch on to the process and realize how simple it really is.

See the number of coil wraps at the top right?

This was using 26ga, you need to change that to 24ga.

You may find using the 26ga heats faster than 24, it's not as thick. I like 28ga personally, it's a good wire size to make simple coils, but 26ga is just as good.

Thanks, I changed it to 24 and trying to aim for .6 and it told me I need 7 full wraps. I hope I'm understanding it correctly, pretty certain that I am, it's late and I need to crash out, damned daylight savings time is messing up my circadian rhythm.

You'll do just fine...make sure when you use the coilmaster you don't push on the coil, just let it wrap itself freely.

You will catch on in no time, I made several mistakes, everyone does, practice makes perfect.

Sounds about right, but I'd go with the 26ga to begin with. Heats faster, cools faster.

Well, since you are using a regulated mod, if the coil works on the mod, it is "safe". "Safe" being defined as not 100% safe but as safe as possible. Even regulated mods can fail, although I have only seen one instance where the battery vented due to the short circuit protection failing. Figure "safe" around 99.9999%

Thinner wires use less power to heat, so yes, up your power a bit to compensate if using lower gauges.
26ga is a good wire to learn on. Big enough to handle, yet runs at lower wattage.
