In its 13-year history, the Far Cry series has always excelled at presenting players with complex problems, pointing us towards an arsenal of weapons, abilities, and systems at our disposal, and letting us have the freedom to create our own insane stories. This is only amplified in Far Cry 5 thanks to denser environments, more player tools, and the fantastic new Guns for Hire system.
We went hands-on with a mission that involved liberating a small town from its occupiers, the Project at Eden’s Gate – you know, that doomsday cult that got the internet all in a fuss after the initial reveal trailer. Though it was a relatively short demo, the meat of it came in choosing one of three different Guns for Hire as your partner, which in turn, completely changed how the encounter unfolded.
