How long do flavorings last?

I tried diying about 18 months ago, it didn't really work out, nothing I mixed came out that good, and had more fails than success, so ended up giving up on it.

Now I keep getting the itch to give it another try, I did get rid of the nicotine a long time ago, but still got VG, PG and a ton of different flavors.

As it didn't go so well last time, don't really want to spend out if I can help, so the question is in the title, my flavors are approx 18 months old and been stored in a dark cupboard, think they will still be alright to use?

Well, at worst, I think the flavor would be a bit faded out (mainly citruses). I've only had one that I can think of that wasn't at all vapable. Vapeable? We're always making up words, I don't know.

Mix up a few samples without nic, see how they fare?

Mine are mostly dessert and bakery flavors, which might of been my problem, as seems they are harder to do simple recipes with.

Not got any nic, wasn't planning to get any unless I came up with some good mixes.

Got cookie and like it? Make a simple vanilla one. I vaped something like that for a really long time. It could give you an idea of how well they've held up, at least. I got lazy in creativity and just vape everyone else's recipes.

I was using other people's recipes, but admit I was probably trying to run before I could walk, as most of the recipes I did, was between 6 and 10 different flavors, this time will try to keep it more simple.
I like the simple ones, myself. Really good, simple mixes. I don't mind making things slightly more complex, but I don't want to fool with 10 or 11 flavorings that are using a lot of 0.25 measurements. 5 or 6 flavors, I'm fine with. Less than that, even better, LOL.

I keep my flavoring in a cool dry basement. I do the sniff test. The extracts that are suspended in alcohol may dry up a bit/dehydrate. The only flavorings I ever tossed so far are loranns and a few creme/custard flavors by FA after 2.6 years. I have tossed out a few due to safety (my level of comfort).

I like simple recipes as well.

Edit: my safety level is flavorings I find out to have fructose or high amounts of diacetyl in them.

I have some pushing that time frame .. like Huck said, they may lose some zing or strength.. I have been using them and only some custards/creme 's are suspect so far... and FA Desert Ship.. not sure what it's supposed to taste like tho so not sure re that one.. I get a real chemical taste with that .. but could just be one of those flavors for me.

Mix without the nic. and if it's "good" to you...add the nic. later.
