Do you guys remember the sour green apple Now & Laters we used to get as kids? There were fantastic and the ones that they sell today are too soft or something. They just aren't the same for some reason. Why am I driveling on about Now & Laters? Well, It's because being a Chef, previously by trade, but now more for a hobby and and trying to impress my friends, I am always experimenting with flavors. The other day, I was playing around in my kitchen and I made a discovery, so I decided to share it here with my new VU Family.
I had just received an order that I placed from BCV for a bunch of random flavorings that I had picked and ordered on a whim. One of the flavorings that I picked was Capella's Green Apple flavoring. They were out of the 10 ML size so I ended up having to choose the 4 oz bottle to my dismay. However, in retrospect, If it had not been for this infraction, I would have never been able to come up with the following recipe.
I opened the large bottle and took a whiff, what does that smell like? I thought. GREEN APPLE NOW&LATERS!!! Oh man I am going to mix up 120 MLs of this so fast!!! I thought. NOT SO DAMN FAST!!!! Every body calm down. It turns out that this flavor, for some reason, doesn't taste like it vapes. And it is a mystery to me. I have had some strawberries that do this as well. Smells incredible when you sniff it, but when you vape it, doesn't taste at all like a strawberry. BUT ALAS, all is not lost people. And this is where that whole Chef thing comes into play.
So getting back to this green apple from Capella. So when I opened the bottle and smelled it, I thought to myself, wow this has to be the exact same flavoring that they are using to make Green Apple Now&Later candy. So I quickly grabbed the scale and mixed in 10% to a 5 ML 70/30 VG PG ratio. Put the bottle on a 3 prong lab clamp and mixed it on high speed with my Dewalt drill. Put some drops on a new coil and vaped. Not exactly like Now&Laters. Still tasted like Apple though. So I sat down on my couch disappointed and gazed down at my glass of country time lemonade sitting on the table. Then the light-bulb went off.
Green Apple Now & Later Lemonade
1. Mix 1 and 1/2 cups of Country Time plain lemonade drink mix in a one gallon pitcher and add ice.
2. Add 2 tsp of Capella Green Apple, 4 drops of green food coloring (optional) and stir vigorously.
3. Pour a tall glass and enjoy.
It is interesting that this is a recipe for a beverage, instead of E liquid, I know. But we all have to stay hydrated when we vape right? And for whatever reason that Capella's Green Apple doesn't vape like Now&Later's it damn sure drinks just like them. I'm going to have to order the 120 ML bottle next time.
