Just curiosity. I'm new to RDA's, and I've been using the same coils for about a month now, and swapping cotton about once a week.

I asked somebody at a vape shop how long coils last, and he said about four months. I just want more input from this community.

As needed, really. I normally rotate my tanks and rewick about once a week or when the coil gets gunked up. I'll make new coils when they start looking crappy after a dry burn or I sense they are not performing well.

I re-wick every few days easily when using something like the OHW juices (Muffin Man is the biggest culprit). They'll be very dark in color after just a day or so. I'm guessing it is the sweetener that is the wick and coil gunker? Since I've started making my own juice, I'm easily getting twice as long out of them. I have "Scottish roll" wicks and Clapton coils in my velocity that are almost a week old and both are still fairly clean. I was taught that more frequent re-wicking will help to preserve the coils. Make sure to dry burn the coils and give them a very quick rinse before wicking.

It really depends on what I'm vaping. Wicks tend to last me nearly 2 weeks on a clearish juice, like some of my fruity ones. If I hit the dark stuff, they're toast in a few days, and the coils are gunked up. Coils I can burn clean, and they usuallly last a while before I rebuild them. Juice type seems to matter less with those.

I'm pretty new to RDAs myself. I haven't gone more than a week with a coil yet, mostly due to experimenting, and the juice I've mostly been using is somewhat dark, so it had clogged up sucks within a couple of days. Less if I end up running dry and burning cotton.

I re wick every 4-5 days or so on my daily dripper and about once a week on my tanks. I find the dripper performs much better with fresh cotton. I assume the capillary channels in cotton break down from saturation and heat over time, reducing the amount of juice that gets to the coil. A fresh wick snaps and crackles a lot more and gives a fuller, cleaner flavor IMO.

I really don't know 6 tanks 3 drippers bunch of flavors, seems like all the time. I am always experimenting with builds , wicks and flavors. Every day I mess with these things. Really when they get a bit funky throw in a wick of some kind, a good dry burn and brushing of the coil and good to go. The survey above is quite accurate.
I enjoy the hobby and am continually messing with this stuff.

I don't think I've ever used a coil until it's gone "bad". I usually just very bored and feel like making something new. I think the longest I've ever kept a coil is pushing a month.
As for wicks, I sometimes change wicks multiple times a day if I'm testing diy flavors, especially if a flavor has a strong note on it like chocolate or peanut butter. Otherwise it depends how I vape. I like to change the wicks right as they start to look gross.

Rewick every 2nd day. Or more accurately, every second tank.
Recoil every week
Each time I recoil, I soak atty quickly and make sure pipe all free of black stuff + tip, otherwise creates a metal taste after a while.

If I make a coil I really like it'll last me a couple months usually. Of course I dry burn and clean it about once a week or a little earlier depending on the juice running through it. Of course I'm constantly rotating a few tanks too. Once they get that burnt taste to start it's time to clean and rewick. Definitely rewick about every 4-5 days usually. Little longer if it's not a juice that gunks up everything. I did have a cocoa mix that really gunked coils quick and had to change those wicks and clean those coils about every 3 days.

With my Subtank mini I was changing them about every 5-7 days. I recently picked up a Starre tank and I'm on day 6 of my first coil and can not detect any change in flavor or vape production. According to the literature included in the box they should last an entire month. If that's the case I'll be a very happy man.

I used to rewick my RDA twice a week, but since I started a job as an over the road truck driver it's not that easy to clean my coils. So now I carry 5 RDAs with me and use one a week.

As for coils, how long they last depends on the wire.
A thin wire like 28 gauge will wear out much faster then a thick wire like 20 gauge.

The longest I used a 20 gauge coil was 5 months, with it being used daily.
Only stopped because I decided to do a real thorough cleaning of the RDA and I lost the center insulator.

Theoretically, you could use kanthal coils in an RDA until they break from deterioration from rust due to age.

Coils I've had last months but usually only days since I'm always throwing on something new Haha but Save all my coils I switch out for spares. Cotton I change every 2 days or so after gunking up or changing between dessert and fruity flavors then I clean the coils by dry burning them 5-10 second pulses then run the rda while the coils are still hot under some running water and repeat at least twice (only do this method on a mech mod only. never use a regulated mod when doing this cleaning method.) If using a regulated use alcohol and a q tip to clean the coils. I've been vaping for around a year nd a half now and don't think I've ever fully burnt out any of my coils unless snapping the legs from over tightening.
