I just picked up a brass goon rda and its already started to look dull, since all my other mods/rdas are stainless or painted I'm lost. What should I use that won't leave some kind of residue?

Grab a bottle of Brasso from the grocery store. Should be in the cleaning supply aisle.

Apply a liberal amount to all brass or copper surfaces and let it sit for 5-10 min, then rinse with clean water. It'll completely remove all oxidation without scrubbing or polishing.

Repeat as needed.

I've seen folks use lemon juice & sea salt and get good results with a toothbrush
I might try this since it seems pretty safe, I've heard about mother's aluminum polish and cape ect. But was worried about residue.

What Zamazam said. Bar Keepers Friend and/or Bar Keepers Friend Cookware. BKF(C) is superior as a mild mineral (feldspar) polish with an included detergent (DDBSA) to make it effective against grease and oil. However, it is its 7.5-9.5% concentration of oxalic acid (by weight) which performs the bulk of the cleansing action. Strength of cleansing action is modulated by the amount of water added to the base powder: Less water creates a more abrasive and acidic paste while more water develops the base into a weaker slurry for use on sensitive components. BKF(C) does not leave a protective layer on materials it was meant to be used on (important on contacts and threads and other areas in which a film deposited by the polishing material may reduce conductivity). Once a supported surface has been polished, cleaned and properly rinsed, it can be eaten off of...Just like the cookware it is marketed to clean :)

If you stop by your local Home Depot or equivalent you can find many grades of Steel Wool...grab a pack of 0000 grade (super fine) and polish away.

No residue and it will shine like glass.

I use Ketchup and Steel Wool...get something small and fill it with ketchup and toss it in for 2-3 minutes (works for anything copper or brass) and then hit it with steel wool...brush it lightly until you reach desired outlook. I use it on all my mods and rda's and they is shiny.

To show it works...even without steel wool. This is what I use:

Barrel is tarnished/patina'd...

Cover it with Ketchup!

Scrub with Brush for a couple second to remove any easily removable surface crap:

Let it sit in the Ketchup for 2-5 minutes:

Rinse it off and wash with Dawn soap:

Steel wool will take the brightness and shine further!

Make sure its Heinz...some of the other ketchup's arent as Acidic and wont have the same effect. Vinegar and lemon juice works even better but most people have ketchup already.

Toothpaste is nice when used without watter with a papertowel to "Buff" and get light scratches off. Afterwards use a large eraser and it will have a great shine. Thanks for bringing that up Neunerball!

You're welcome! I would never have thought of using toothpaste, if it hadn't been for my Grandmother. She polished her wedding ring with it.
