Very cool! I'm familiar with the area. My mom lives outside Kosciusko in a little town called Ethel. will do, and i hope this little place in jackson square is still open. Maurices bakery, i think, had the best tarts i have ever eaten.Grew up in Lake Charles, went to school in Natchitoches - lived in Baton Rouge and N'Awlins (including a couple years working for Emeril)... and yeah - got to have my cajun food fix periodically, lol - if it is in season, I usually bring a couple sacks of crawfish back after a store opening and do a boil up in the mountains, lol... looks like I may be in Harvey, LA, opening a bakery-cafe in November - the timing may be interesting, with Thanksgiving and all
if you are going to be in NOLA, and have a chance, check out Katie's Restaurant (mid-city, locals place - amazing cochon de lait and doberge cake) or Toup's Meatery (also in mid-city area... the chef-owner, Isaac Toups, worked for Em at one point and his family has been in the biz for 3 generations - amazing food)
l'aissez les bon temps roulet!
Yep, that's the place. Great sandwiches, and Mississippi Mud Cake...yum!yeah i know all the places you mentioned. Did you eat at the council house cafe... i used to work there after school love that place.
Ha i used to make all of that. I was like the first kid who ever got paid to work at that school. It was part of our daily routine to have a work detail, but i would get killer tips during my summers there. I cooked all the desserts and made sandwiches and of course sweet tea, and served food. I will probably be heading there sometime this october actually. Cant wait to get some of that sorgum molassesYep, that's the place. Great sandwiches, and Mississippi Mud Cake...yum!
