I am looking for a good versatile box mod

I know it's a bit to read but please bare with me...

Let's start with my history. I smoked menthol for about 12-13 years then quit but picked up chewing. Went from long cut wintergreen to pouches. I would use two at a time but did eventually cut down to one but I always had one in my mouth. I switched to vaping about two months ago or so and have had no desire to chew anymore.

I bought one of those cheep njoy vape pens from the gas station one night when my wife wanted a cig after a night of drinking. The flavors were not that good but it did cure my cravings for Nic. I upgraded to an Aspire CE5 with an eG0 c-twist then to a nautilus mini. From there I bought an iStick 30w for the nautilus. I drilled and cut the crap out of the nautilus trying to get more out of it but finally went and got a kanger subtank mini. I wasn't a fan of the stock atomizers but really do enjoy the RBA.

The battery life was not very good as I vape a lot because the switch from a constant supply of Nic from chew kept me at a high level. . I got an EVIC VT with the eGo Mega tank and although the Ni was OK the Ti could really hit but I don't really have much use for the temp control as I prefer the Kanger tank and the Ti wire I bought for rebuilds has been very difficult (I have only got one build to work and it took 24 wraps to get it to read).

I bought a TOHB V2.5 for testing my DIY vape flavors and that hits well but with dual coils the battery doesn't last all day. I am looking for something that can handle all day vaping and be versatile enough to handle tank upgrades. I am thinking the iStick 100 my suit my needs but what input from you guys.

Thanks for reading.

I just picked up a Smok x cube II from ecig, com for $56. Tracking says they delivered it today. I don't have it in hand yet but it looks to be real versatile.

I have been looking at those. Another thing I forgot to mention is that I dont want to have to buy a battery charger and carry around spare batteries everywhere I go.Another reason I like the iStick 100w, it has a balanced usb pass through charging setup and uses two 18650 batteries that can be replaced down the line when they get old.

I think the iStick 100w is a good choice for you. It isn't a very versatile mod, as it only has variable watt or voltage control, but it's solid for vaping on kanthal or stainless steel builds. Don't put a nickle or titanium coil on it. Just get a good new set of batteries. Do not use old batteries. Dual battery mods need to have "paired" batteries that never get used as singles in other devices. I recommend a pair of LG HG2 batteries. They should last even you at least a day on a full charge with the tanks you have.

Since you have the eGo One Mega tank already, you may want to try the normal kanthal eGo One "CLR" coils. I think they're better than the Subtank coils and a hell of a lot better than the coils that come with the VT kit. You can also rewick or rebuild them. Rewicking is a breeze. Worth a shot since you already have the tank.

I'm going to say, get your self a 2 cell charger and 2 sets of new battery's, if your going to be a heavy vaper it's really the only way to go.
I'd advise the sigeli 150 tc, it's comfy, black, fits in the hand nicely, does do temp control if you fancy that but it just works.
A decent tank and probably one you wont need to upgrade is the Uwell Crown, it's amazing, get the 0.25 coils in there and at 60 ish watts it's the best I've tried so far, and it's really easy to fill, unscrew the top which has butter smooh threads on it and fill it up.

I don't think he wants a mod that doesn't have on-board charging at all. I completely agree that a dedicated battery charger is the safest way to charge batteries (it's the only way I do it), but it isn't the way he wants to go. The object of vaping it to get off of tobacco. Finding a device that fits his needs and is convenient for him is priority number one. The iStick 100w does everything he needs it to do with the possible exception of temp control.. The Sigeli would leave him high and dry if the batteries died and he wasn't carrying another set. Plug in the iStick and you can keep vape on.

Neither do I, but we're not trying to find a mod that's right for us. This is about helping Thejkaz find something that's right for him based on his preferences.

I was looking at the Uwell crown and also the Zephurus, which would you recommend? I am a both feet in kind of guy which is why I upgraded to sub ohm so quickly and started DIY juice. I have the TC on the EVIC but I find myself going back to VW because to me I get better flavor but maybe I just haven't found the right temp for me.

I would recommend the Crown. I have two of these awesome tanks using the .25 ohm coils at 65 to 70 watts. Well made, buttery smooth threads, and very easy top fill combine with stainless steel coils makes these tanks the very best I've ever had the pleasure to vape.

Do they have an RBA? I really like to build my own coils

I also love the Asolo, but there's no passthrough, so probably the Istick 100 is your best bet.

I'm a bit off passthrough, though, after melting the USB connection on a VT - which rendered the unit entirely useless:eek:

Be aware though if you do get a Crown (also my favorite tank) it's a juice guzzler, and pretty tough on battery life because of the high-wattage vaping. You can get the 1.2 ohm coils for it, which you run at only 40 watts, but in my opinion they don't compare to the 0.25 coils at 60-70 watts. I've only tried the RBA section once, and it was a leakfest - but I should give it another go!

I am currently running the kanger sub mini with a 1 om build at 21w on an iStick 30 and I prefer it over anything I have done on the evic vt but it kills a lot of juice. I refill it at least 3 times a day but I keep cutting my nic so I dont think its uncommon

Ideally I dont want to have to get another box mod ever. I get my nic fill for this setup but the battery life isn't enough. I want to be sure it won't run out half way through the day

The Istick dual batteries won't last any longer than your VT, so you'd have to use it as passthrough. As we mentioned above, that may or may not work long term! However, if you alternate both a VT and an Istick then perhaps that will work?

Dump the pass through get you a 3Li with a crown topper and be done with it. This is my setup at 40 joules 450 degrees and I get almost 2 days on a single charge of my HG2s.

People say how long they get out of their batteries, but not how many tanks they go through in a day on that setup. That is much more relevant in my opinion!

All the dual battery mods will for the most part give you the same battery life. It depends how much you vape and at what wattage.

I use a Crown on the Asolo (dual battery) at 70 watts and vape about 30mls a day, so obviously I change batteries several times during the day.

exactly... I run a Starre Pro on the Asolo and a Crown on the IPV 4, both with .15 ni200 coils and refill both 2-4 time a day...

Not sure how many ml per day but I fill my tank 6-8 times a day. I'm on the .15 Ni200 coils also.

This crown loves the juice that's for sure but man so glad I went with it it's a beast and the flavor woot woot.

I've been watching these threads because I'm about to buy a backup mod.

Just to get my 2 cents in. I have two crown tanks. They are great. But I use a zephyrus when I want to vape all day on the the same mod. I can get a great vape at 25-35 watts from the zeph using the deck and building between .3 - .5 ohms. If I use a dual 18650 mod it will last hours and hours and is good on the juice. Clouds and flavor are darn good on the zeph too and it is also top fill. I prefer the zeph with the RBA over the Crown with the RBA.

As with most queries there is no one answer. Either of those tanks with a dual 18650 mod will suit your needs. Also there is a .5 coil for the crown. You get decent flavor (not as good as the .25) and can vape at lower wattages and still do okay. But truly the crown is built for temp control. Their temp coils last forever it seems ( I have my latest in 3 weeks and it is still going strong). On the zeph I just use pretty standard kanthal builds - never use the pre-made coils because they have a much more limited life span.

As for the mods themselves - I have four mods going now - a 75w tc sigelei, a 150w tc sigelei, a coolfire 4 and a HCigar VT DNA 200. I have to say - if I'm not going to use my DNA 200, I use my 150w sigelei because I want dual 18650 battery life. So I would say get any dual 18650 if you don't want to spend on a DNA 200.

I like the Sigelei 150tc in theory but it cost a little more than the iStick 100 and it doesn't have pass through charging. I have looked at the DNA200 mods and it seems that the battery life is crap on all of them. I cant find a DNA 200 with more than 1800 mah battery life(Vaporlips DNA200 has a 2200mah battery life but $400 is ridiculous). There are a few out there that use 18650 batteries but they max out at 133w (why buy a DNA200 that is limited to 133w?). I just want something I can charge on the go and I wont have to upgrade again.

The Vapor Shark has a 2A charger. The Lavabox has a fast charger too. I should have mine this week. A 1850 mah lipo would probably last me all day easy. I'm not too worried about 900. It should last most of the day. They are more efficient in this application. I still have a backup though. 18650s are easy if you have few. A dual 200 would not bother me at all. 133w is fine. TC would never use that. And if you are looking at a 150... Well, 133 isn't much different. I know some might use it, but 100-120 is still very good. I don't see the arms race past 150w lasting long for most.

I have a couple V4's with the .25 Crown subtanks I vape at 65-70w...
I refill about twice a day, and batt life is great with these mods..I get almost a day and a half before I needing to swap them out..not looking to buy anymore mods in the near future... These two fill the bill, lol

I got the original ipv4 and due to an overabundance of caution I removed the charging boards because of reports of them shorting out. So no, I can't charge on the go but the batteries last for the duration of my trip out and about...it does have a USB port for updates..

I am a bit confused. From the factory the IPV4 does charge via Micro USB but you removed the charging board because of possible shorting issue?

Just got the Sigelei 150 TC. Been using it for a week and very pleased. Consistent, solid battery life and works very well in TC.

not via USB, via a 9V balanced charger... you have to buy a separate wall wart for it and the board has been known to , quite literally, melt down...

this issue was addressed with the IPV 4S... they completely removed the charging board...

Definitely on my wish list this thing is a monster, price tag is pretty high though.
It's really not priced bad given what it offers vs whats available currently and what their price is now. It's a flat out monster for sure and no lipo bullshit with 3 18650s boo ya!

I like my istick 100 so much I just ordered another one. Feels great in the hand, I can charge it at work if I forgot to change the batteries, and it can power up my crowns or my aromamizers.

Just a FYI about the Smok XCube 2. I received mine on Saturday and the Bluetooth does not work on any my Android devices. It's on its way back to the online retailer I bought it from. I know other people love it but my experience has not been good so far. I will update when I get the replacement.

I think it is going to come down to either the 1Stick 100w or the IPV4 with the 9v charger. Honestly I have not gotten above 51w with anything I own. My TOHB V2.5 with dual coils running at 1 ohm just tastes burnt after more than 51w. I just want to be sure that whatever I buy will last all day. Thank you all for the input. I think I will get a uwell crown and get the RBA to go with it as well.

I got the iStick 100w the other day. I like the size and weight of it but there are some definite problems with it, One the up/down button are loose and very loud (no biggie I will take it apart and slap some thin rubber in there to tighten them up) the big issue is that the fire button sticks when pushed down and slightly right (i.e. when I hold it in my right hand and fire it with my pointer finger). I think it catches under the lip maybe a bit of rubber under that will solve that problem. Will let you all know it it fixes the problems.

So I pulled it apart and it seems they glued the board in place so I and not going to be able to tighten up the buttons at this time. If I get a new mod and this becomes my back up I'll give it another shot.
