I found this at work today. Safe to use?

Yeah, I know the "Is this safe to vape" thing is usually stupid. But I found a massive roll of nichrome at work today. No one else knew of anything it would be useful for, so I grabbed it in a heartbeat. A pound of 20 gauge is hard to walk away from. LOL.
It has an NSN on the back, 9525-00-529-0442. I'm considering building a coil and seeing what it ohms out to.

I think people used nichrome before kanthal caught on. I've heard that it probably could lead to more health problems, but I can't recall where (or why)

It looks like this is likely "safety wire", commonly used for securing things, but I still have to wonder if it is possible to vape safely.

I would not try it.

It is meant for tying small things to bigger things.

Not for vaping at all.

You only have one set of lungs.

Plenty of cheap wire to be found at Temco!

I have a large spool of Kanthal, but I was curious if it would be safe. It looks like, from my research, it's a Nichrome/iron alloy. Kanthal has iron in it, so I assume it shouldn't be TOO unsafe. The three ingredients are common vape wire ingredients. I'm going to look into it more, first.

It is my understanding that names like "kanthal" and "nichrome" are just names for alloys. I'd research it. I know for a fact there are still plenty of people who prefer nichrome to kanthal. Not that I'm one of them. But if that's the correct stuff you could have scored. Verify it first though.

If you do roll a coil, burn it a few times to build up the surface protection layer before you use it

It clearly says nonelectrical and you want to send electricity through it? It's lock wire. It's used to keep bolts from undoing themselves from vibrations.

It's because it doesn't have electrical insulation around it

Safety wire...probably not vaping wire, even though those dangers are for
CUTTING, GRINDING, OR WELDING which are at tems WELL above vaping

Might be why the safety conscious of the vaping community has moved us from nichrome to kanthal wire
